“The software and measurement microphone work OK. It's not magic, but it flattens out your frequency response a bit. Unfortunately, you can't use it if you're not connected to the internet, and it turns out that this will let you down at deadlines and other terrible times. They disclose that internet is required, but I'm here to tell you that it is a huge fail. This will let you down in terrible ways. If you're an educational user, don't expect your schedule hold up. If you're a business, I would 100% go with the Neumann or Genelec system to avoid the crash and downtime problems with being online.”
“This has been gamechanging for me, using both studio speakers and headphones t produce music. I feel more confident knowing what I hear, not being distracted from potential artificial sounds. On top: Great discount for educational licenses”
“My producing mentor Alex at Audio Edge sent me here. If you are serious about producing and mixing, you should definitely get this software and the reference microphone. I started out with a trial period of the plugin to my DAW, and honestly didn't think that it would make much of a difference for my headphones. I was blown away by how much my (then) untrained ears could hear the difference in sound! After having worked with headphones only I bought a pair of Yamaha HS5 speakers and I have also treated my walls, floor and ceiling with diffusors, bass traps, clouds, carpets and absorptive panels. Then I bought the measurement microphone and did the Sound ID Reference Measure. The result was very interesting. My room has a tilted ceiling and is asymmetrical. The measurement mic picked up on all the peaks and attenuations in my studio environment and the software is now adjusting the output levels. I would have been totally unaware of the many differences in frequency responses between the left and the right side of my room for instance. The software compensates for that now, and that flat curve sound makes my mix able to transfer to all kinds of speakers. I love that there are many translation alternatives you can choose in the software to compare your mix with: 3 cars, 3 laptops, 8 ear phones and some other stuff. I use a mac and FL Studio. The only downside I can think of is that you always have to remember to manually turn off the plugin before bouncing something out.
CONCLUSION: It doesn't matter how great your speakers or headphones are, or how much you have treated your studio. You will still not have a clue what your mix really sounds like! So yeah, you need this software to be ahead of the game.”
“All the hype you hear, it’s real. Over 30 points of measurement turned my little corner desk studio into an amazing flat environment.
Just get it; you won’t regret it.
10/10”
“Works like charm, also for SONY XM1000, which otherwise are not suitable for sound monitoring. I think Sound ID removed at least most of the issues I had with my bedroom studio.”
