“Unlike many other cooling arrangements, this is a single beefy chunk of metal with carefully designed cooling fins. The grooves on the sides of the fins hugely increase the surface area for heat dissipation and this works very well since at least in my experience the fan rarely switches on and the system remains at a safe and comfortable temperature. It does not impede access to the GPIO header or to the camera/display ribbon cable headers.”
