I have 3 of these on Pi5's and not missed a beat. Easy to set up with little knowledge of Linux.

I've bought NVMe Base to set up a Home Assistant with a bigger ROM. It connected to the Raspberry Pi 5 with no problems, but the PCI flex cable was a little finicky, and I had to reconnect it once before it worked. I don't think the base is compatible with any widely available Raspberry cases without heavy modification, so keep that in mind. Overall, the base seems well-designed and well-put together, and the packaging feels reliable enough to send by post, for example.

The NVMe Base for the Raspberry Pi 5 was easy to assemble and worked perfectly on the first try. The "kink" in the PCIe FFC (flat flexible cable) makes it easy to switch thye SD card even after the Pimoroni 5 base is assembled on the Raspberry Pi 5. The NVMe stick can be accessed/swapped by removing four small screws. I'm still waiting for someone to start selling a simple, easy to assemble and maintain case for the Raspberry P 5 / Pimoroni 5 base assembly.

Already tried the official raspberry pi NVME hat and this one is much better as it mounts on the bottom. The quality of the parts are much better than the offical one. It was really simple to put together and hook everything up, I bought a cheap used NVME drive from ebay and it all worked perfectly. Speed wise it is so much faster than either an SD card or a

I'm torn... on one hand, I've had *fairly* good luck with my NVME base (bought two, but haven't used the 2nd one yet), but on the other hand I've just now learned that there's a new "DUAL" NVME base being sold. First question I asked myself was, "Why is the price of the 'DUAL' more than twice the price of a single?!?!" Perhaps that's not actually a review of the SINGLE NVME base I purchased, but I felt it needed to be said! And I'll add this as a "proper" review: While I've been generally pleased with my SINGLE NVME base, on two separate occasions I've noticed something odd: At some point during routine usage of my Pi 5, the `/boot` partition of the NVME drive has become "un-mounted"!! When I looked at my system through `lsblk --fs`, I saw both NVME partitions listed, but only the `/` (root) partition showed a mount point! My solution was simple: I added a `mount -a` statement to the `root crontab` to be run mid-day each day. But even thought the solution was simple, I don't feel I should have needed a "solution" at all. If it makes any difference the NVME device I use is this one: "Crucial P3 Plus 500GB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD, up to 5000MB/s - CT500P3PSSD8"

Ahoy James! I believe Duo is more expensive as it has a bunch of extra components compared to the single NVMe Base - it needs to work as a PCIe switch so the hardware (and assembly) is quite a bit more complicated. If you'd like to return your unused NVMe Base so you can buy a Duo drop us an email at support@pimoroni.com and we can send you our returns details.
