“It works.
My low rating is partially in part because I whole heartedly disagree with forcing users to face the NVMe drive towards the pi. Both already run hot on their own. They could have given the option for users to flip the board and just provide a reversed fpc cable.
My low rating is also in part because they designed the board dimensions slightly larger than the raspberry pi. Why? Now case makers have to go back to the drawing board just to accommodate the slightly larger pimoroni NVMe board. It's ridiculous in every way. There's no reason at all that they shouldn't have used the same exact dimensions as the raspberry pi so case designers and users can have a nice clean stack.”
“the nvme package arrived after days. I imagine time needed for customs. high quality product. personally I would have inserted an extra flat as a reserve in case the first one was lost or broken. with the latest update you can nvme is seen automatically it must only be set to gen3 to take advantage of around 800mbps”
“Incredibly easy to use this NVMe base. I then followed a YouTube video from EC “Explaining Computers” on making the SSD the main drive for the RPI-5 operating system, and voila. Now I have a very quick Raspian OS system!”
“Excellent HAT ! Installed with a Kingston 1TB NVMe drive (PCI Gen 3 enabled). Runs like a champ. Only complaint is that the board is slightly longer than the stock PI, meaning it extends out past the PI's board on the end where the I/O connectors are (LAN/USB)...making fitting a case impossible or extremely difficult at least.”
“The NVMe Base features were as advertised. It was easy to assemble and install the operating system following the easy instructions. A nice change from items originating from other locations. There were no power error message for being under voltage. It is working flawlessly.”
