Excellent piece of kit, as is all the Trend stuff I have, works very well with the hinge jig.

Bought to carry out one task, rebating existing door frames as my own router was too big and powerful. It does the job and will be useful for other small jobs. This is a diy / hobby tool. One particular problem is the plunge action. It is definitely not smooth or easy to operate. It sticks or takes effort to get it to slide, this can cause slipping on the workpiece. You need to be careful. Plenty of WD40 and make sure you clean the plunge rails regularly.

Ordered the Trend T4EK router to mount in a new saw and routing table I’m building. Initially I used it to cut in the insert plates and the T channels into the table top, and then mounted it upside down with the selected bit protruding up through the table top. It’s a well built tool with a quality feel about it. It’s easy to use and delivers great results if used with quality bits. Recommended.

The first time I used the router, I had some difficulty using the spindle lock to tighten the cutter and more difficulty to release it. When I tried to fit another cutter, the spindle lock would not secure the spindle at all. I contacted Power Tool World about the problem and have subsequently received a replacement router as it was not economical to repair it. I think the build quality is poor and is not as good as the T5 I have had for a while. The T5 and other Trend accessories I have bought have been good and was the main reason I bought the T4 but am disappointed with my experience.
