Room was good but have stayed in better at same price. The only disappointment was breakfast, there were 4 staff on duty but it took 40 minutes for anyone to take our order. We were due to stay a week later when I was going to ask for better service but due to circumstances we weren't able stay.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? We really feel that Dryburgh Abbey could be fantastic, but we were quite disappointed by the lack of staff training - some service was wonderful, but some was certainly lacking in the basics. The website suggests “fantastic seasonal cuisine” with “menus driven by what is available and fresh on the day” - however, we were given the same, minimal, laminated menu each evening and, other than the Cajun chicken, the food was mediocre at best. Providing condiments in plastic sachets is not only environmentally terrible, but also what I would expect from a fast food restaurant not a high quality establishment. Similarly, providing sachets of Nescafé original at breakfast was far from what I would expect, or consider acceptable. The breakfast was largely tasteless, with cheap gristly sausages. We did have a lovely time, but sadly would not hurry back.
I previously left a review after my stay. It suggested some room for improvement. I had no response so went to the website to check, and noticed that mine and 2 other ‘less positive’ reviews had been deleted. If you can’t get honest feedback/reviews, I would avoid using this service. The grounds of the hotel and views of the river are fantastic. The dogs certainly loved the freedom and warm welcome they always received from the staff. Our room was large and comfortable, but very dated (especially the bathroom). We felt quite let down by the quality of food, which did not live up to the high expectations set on the hotel website. (The Buccleuch Arms in St Boswells, was however exceptional).

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Did ask for Soya milk as I have cancer but was told they only have Oat milk, so not happy about that. had black tea instead
Very welcoming, staff were able to help if needed. Comfortable feling in all the rooms. Bedroom large and yet cosy. very clean. meals were great, but used the same menu for all of the three days we were there which was a bit monotonous. Dog got a sausage for breakfast which she loved.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? A few water bowls and dog treats would be nice.
Very good for dogs, allowed in the Bistro bar and lounge. Abbey room good size. Food was very good, but bar had run out of 2 of the 3 draft beers which was poor. Very good for walks from the hotel, boots required as it's quite muddy in places. A good option for dog walkers for a short stay.

We may as well not have booked with Pets Pyjamas as there was nothing provided for our dog in the hotel and we were in a room on the second floor! As a hotel the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel OK - but many members of staff are very young and untrained.

Truly brilliant. Very dog friendly, we were able to bring our 3 small dogs so we all enjoyed a fabulous break. The room was large and perfect for us. Food amazing and staff very friendly.

My dog and I really enjoyed our stay here. I was travelling solo which can be tricky with a dog, when it comes to carrying food from the buffet to the table etc, hoping the dog doesn't decide to tug in an unexpected direction! Staff constantly asked if I would like some help and carried for for me, which was a relief! I have found at other 'dog friendly' hotels that you are confined to a specific area, but this is just like one big family home and your dog can go wherever you go - needless to say he enjoyed sitting in front of the fire with me! The staff were very friendly and the room was large, warm and clean - just the ticket! I really enjoyed my stay here. And the food was lovely too!

We have been to the area several times before and knew that we liked it. We were looking for a dog friendly hotel and found Dryburgh Abbey Hotel on the Pets Pyjamas website. The drive up through Scotland to the hotel was lovely. There are plenty of walking areas in the grounds of the hotel and in Dryburgh Abbey next door. We have been members of English Heritage for many years and so could get free entry to the grounds of Dryburgh Abbey. The hotel could do with some refurbishment in places, but our standard double room was a good size, lovely and clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and made our dogs feel very welcome too. We'd definitely return for another stay.
