Fabulous location in a picturesque valley leading down to a tiny cove. The hotel was comfortable and staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. The restaurant was disappointing- food was expensive and not very exciting, breakfast was good though.

We stayed two nights, three days .. a beautiful, peaceful setting. The staff were welcoming and friendly. It was great to be able to dine with Monty, he even got a sausage in our last morning for breakfast! Amazing views from the coastal paths; the Cove was sandy and great fun (great for ball throwing and wave jumping!) No mobile signal which was great! Just one thing, it would have been helpful to have a good/water bowl in the room. Thank you for a lovely short break.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Comfortable, clean rooms, fantastic staff.
We had a fantastic stay. The hotel is extremely dog friendly with the charming rooms opening straight out onto the grounds and lovely walks to the secluded cove with sandy beach (our dog had never seen a sandy beach and was so happy running around). There are hill walks and a cliff walk to Salcombe. The food is excellent, and my foodie husband had nothing to complain about, it was that good! There are local bins to try and a knowledgeable bar chap, do try the sparkling wine from the local area, I did, every night...well I was on holiday. Staff are lovely and the dogs are allowed in the dining room, so do make sure your dog is on their best behaviour as there can be a few pups around. We were blessed with fantastic weather and were entranced withe the view from our room (room 15). We asked Pets Pyjamas for holiday help when another so-called pet friendly hotel informed us that out dog wasn't allowed out of the room! We have learned to only book through Pets Pyjamas, they know all the best places! Thank you for a fabulous find. One thing for travel, it is secluded and you will need to factor in a lot of time. To get there. We came from Bromley and it was many hours longer than the satnav suggested.

The location is amazing if you want to really chill out, the cove is only 5-10 mins walk away and is a gorgeous spot. What would really help though is if the local council emptied the bin at the cove as it was overflowing all week that we were there. Obvs not the hotel's responsibility but it did impact the feel of the cove. The hotel was lovely, all the staff were super helpful and friendly. The rooms though do need a refurb. The lounge and restaurant look to have had a recent decor but the bedrooms are a bit tired, the bathrooms are pokey and old-fashioned. We had a garden view and the patio was a bit messy. We stayed a week and the same towel was on the floor of the pool changing rooms for the whole week. Having said all that we had a very relaxing week.

Everything was so perfect for us and our 10 month old active puppy that I would be hard pushed to find ways to improve it. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, food was terrific and the setting fantastic for walking and "beaching". The room was clean, comfortable well appointed with easy access to the garden and grounds. There was even a bottle opener on the room key ring - just in case one was caught short!
