“We stayed at the Fox and Hounds for 5 nights. The ground floor room with patio was very large and ideal for our Alsatian. Staff was great. Very pet friendly. Will definitely be returning.”

“Staff all friendly and hard working. Clean room and bathroom. Lovely evening meal and breakfast good. Surrounding areas good for dog walks didn't get the chance this time hope to return.”

“We really enjoyed our weekend stay at the Fox and Hounds. The grounds of the hotel are perfect for dog walks with lots of space for the dogs to run off lead. Room was a great size and we enjoyed the personal touches of biscuits for the dogs on arrival but some items such as food bowls weren't provided as advertised and there were no dog beds. If we had known we would have taken our own. The included dinner was fantastic and the staff were excellent with lots of lovely local produce and alcohol options. We were told we would get a pint of local cider each included but again the hotel didn't know anything about that and when we contacted PetsPyjammas they said they were looking into it but never came back to us on it. Otherwise a lovely break within a beautiful part of the world.”

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? The dining menu was somewhat limited if you were staying for more than 2 days you may struggle for options. That said the food that we ordered was absolutely gorgeous!

“As our first stay away with our spaniel we could not have chosen a better hotel. There's dog friendly then there's Fox & Hounds dog friendly. We were able to take our girl anywhere within the hotel, so we could fully relax & enjoy the surroundings. The river at the back of the property was a hit with our water loving girl! All the staff were so friendly & welcoming. Special mention to Maddy on reception and to Florence in the restaurant, who took time out of there busy day to chat to us. Beautiful location with stunning scenery, great location to explore Devon.”

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Be aware the sat nav takes you down very narrow lanes for about 8 miles which are not really suitable for a slightly larger car. Not the hotels problem though.

“Very friendly staff. The room was good, the bathroom great, and the food was excellent (certainly not pub grub). Good to have a separate entrance to our room. Georgie enjoyed the dog exercise paddock. Overall we all enjoyed our stay.”

“Lovely hotel with very friendly staff and genuinely dog friendly. Great menu with daily specials beautifully presented, everything we had to eat was very tasty. Drinks very reasonably priced. We had a ground floor room with its own patio area which again was a lovely and very large (two double beds) For price paid can fault it”

“The location of this country hotel is ideal for those wanting to get out and explore the delights of Devon, with differing attractions in all directions. Alternatively, one may wish to stay and explore the hotel grounds and walks, or nearby woodland walks. There is a railway station 100 yds away, with the chance to visit North Devon or Exeter and the south coast (dogs travel free). The hotel couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming to us and the pooch. Indeed, the owner even joked with us that they were considering it mandatory for all guests to bring a dog! Breakfast was superb (with a sausage for the dog), and the bar well stocked and welcoming. All the staff were pleasant and helpful, but the chef didn’t always hit the mark with his offerings. We would certainly return for a repeat stay at the drop of a hat, and that is the biggest compliment we can pay.”

“Excellent hotel to stay at ,Great service Beautiful gardens and meadow, Dog welcome everywhere .Food lovely with a change of specials each night .Really enjoyed it except for the weather !”
