When we arrived there was we were meant to get " Each room come with everything you might need as well as some essentials for your four-legged friend including beds blanket, water and food bowls, plus some, completely natural, doggie treats and poo bags." We didnt get any of this. Looking directly at the hotels website a suite room would have provided a free bottle of wine. We didnt get this either. I emailed pets pyjamas on arrival and have never had a response. Funny how they can respond so quickly when you are trying to book. Really disappointing. Generally hotel was ok. The suite had was two rooms they'd turned into a suite, quite outdated furniture. The second room didnt really offer anything and the main bedroom was an average size, average bed etc. We didnt even get clean mugs / tea and coffee refill on our second day. Overall very basic . Food was really nice. Hotel staff pleasant. But not really worth booking via pets pyjamas. Did not have that "bow wow" factor.

Dear Laura, Thank you for leaving your review. I'm very sorry to hear you did not feel this stay had the bow-wow factor and it did not meet your expectations. We have spoken to the hotel directly, as all of our customers should have the doggie essentials left in their room and they have apologised that this was not the case for you. So sorry that you were not left these as that does not meet the PetsPyjamas standard and I can understand your disappointment. If you could please email me (support@petspyjamas.com) with your address, I'd love to get some goodies sent to you in the post as an apology. I do hope that this will not deter you from booking with us in future and that we can help you plan more dog-friendly holidays. Best wishes, Catherine

My two dogs Sidney and Beryl very much enjoyed their stay at Colwall, the breakfast Sausages went down a treat. The staff were lovely and the nearby walks were just amazing. We'd for certain be back.

Sam our King Charles cavalier spaniel, enjoyed his stay away, he was on constant alert to the coming and goings at the hotel, with the creaking floor boards. The greeting at reception was warm and welcoming, but there was no offer of assistance with your baggage. Our premier room was on the top floor of the hotel, up several flights of stairs, there are no lifts. The room was large and inviting but not suitable for us, due to a leg injury, having to walk up and down those stairs several times a day was not an option. So having struggled up the stairs with our luggage, we returned to reception to see if other rooms were available, we opted for a very small room with a shower and absolutely no views as it was the least number of stairs to manage. The room was clean but small no homemade biscuits on offer as advertised. The shower was large, with a trickle of water, and the room, like everywhere in the hotel was exceptionally hot. That said the staff were friendly and chatty, and most of them seemed to genuinely like dogs. The food was of a good standard and well presented in the bar area, which was constantly busy with locals and their dogs, so was always full and noisy, not the venue for a relaxed romantic meal. Breakfast was also well presented and a good choice, freshly cooked. The hotel appears in photographs to be in its own rural grounds, when in fact it's on the main road through the village, right next to a railway station, parking in the hotel was very difficult, as always full. It's a nice area, well located for sight seeing. The hotel was busy with a wake, also live entertainment, which meant it was very full of customers and cramped. Positives, food was good, area nice, staff friendly, Negatives, not suitable if you have mobility issues, and want a quiet relaxing break away. Difficult to let your dog out for toilet breaks, as you have to walk past lots of other customers and walk up and down stairs, no real privacy. Real difference in size of rooms, down to nature of the design of property.

We were greeted with a warm and so friendly welcome. It set the bar for the rest of our 4 night stay which included New Year’s Eve celebration and meal. At every opportunity we and our dog were made to feel welcome in almost all of the hotel, even amazingly a room was beautifully decorated for NYE and dogs welcome while we dined. The garden is super handy for last minute business and bed and bowls (B&B ) are provided for your dog. Nothing was too much trouble, an extra cooked sausage at breakfast, guidance on the best local walks, plenty of water bowls, an outside hose for muddy paws and a cuddle every time we came back. I mean for the dog! Colwall Park is an old fashioned hotel and a little scruffy in places but by far makes up for this with excellent staff and service. We are much travelled and would honestly say that this is one of the best stays with our dog we have had. A memorable new year. Special thanks to Lindsay the GM who clearly loves her job and we hope is super appreciated by her bosses. Also to the super duty manager and bar staff who made NYE a lovely night.
