They're Back! After much investigation, we have finally managed to establish a suitable upgrade for the Mk2/2.5 & Mk3/3.5 door speakers! These are the 2 way JVC upgrades and are the perfect answer to transform the sound qualilty from your stereo. Features - 2-Way Coaxial250W Peak/30W RMS PowerFrequency Response: 35 - 22,000HzSound Pressure Level: 92dB/W.mMica Cone WooferPoly-Ether Imide Balanced TweeterFerrite Magnet (Woofer)Hybrid SurroundThese are suitable for both the Mk2/2.5 and Mk3 & 3.5 models, and will fit into the standard speaker holder using the existing mounting holes. In order to acheive a perfect fit in the Mk2/2.5 however, we suggest two minor adaptions. The first is to remove the two "tags" on the edge of the speaker, and the second is to trim a small piece from the back of the plastic holder in the door. Please see the larger photos for more details. Also, should you wish to return your car to standard at any time, we advise when cutting the factory plug off the existing wiring, cut it a few centimetres back from the plug leaving you enough wiring to rejoin should you need to.When fitting these to a Mk3 or 3.5, please note that on the drivers side speaker, the black/white wire is the positive, and the red/orange wire is negative, then on the passenger side the orange wire is the positive and the green wire is negative.Fits all Mk2, 2.5, Mk3, Mk3.5 & 3.75 models, 1998>2015Please note: These will not fit Mk2/2.5 or Mk3/3.5 models fitted with a Bose system, or Mk2 Euphonic Special Editions with the upgraded Sony Stereo system.

“Probably the best value for money upgrade you can make fitted some time ago but the Kenwood KIV700 head unit packed up, back now and installed these speakers are just something else the sound qualitity for the money is just stunning.Fitting tip. When you order these speakers also order half a dozen door trim clips as these are likely to break when removing the door trims.”

“BUY THESE SPEAKERSpurchased these on Wednesday and they were delivered on Thursday, once again kudos to MX-5 parts excellent service. The speakers are a massive improvement on that of the originals. I had the roof down and could not only hear the music but actually had to turn it down! I stupidly paid a pro to fit them but it only took 30 mins so should be a fairly easy task. They are indeed a direct replacement for the original for the mk3 so purchase away. You'd be silly not to!!!”

“These speakers do provide a significant improvement in sound compared to the stock door speakers and a better build quality too. The bass is tighter and less muddy and these generally give a larger, clearer sound. Plus, on my set-up they don't distort very much at high volume unlike the stock speakers. These are very good value, it's not worth spending more unless you never take the roof off and are willing to change the terrible door tweeters and the MX5 speaker cable (which is also naff). One point to note: I disagree that these are quick/easy to install, only because I found the door panels on my 99 Sport a nightmare to remove... but that's down to poor design by Mazda. These speakers are great.”

“I recently purchased these speakers on the strength of other reviews here and I can't say I'm disappointed. I replaced the head-unit when I bought the car (there was a hole where there should have been a stereo) and although I didn't pay a lot for that unit, the existing speakers couldn't really cope with it. The JVC speakers are easy to fit into the existing apertures and sound great. Highly recommended upgrade.”

“i was going to change my head unit, so i got the speakers first what a diffrence in sound i will now keep my original head unit and enjoy better sound easy to fit took me 30 min for both sides mx5 mk 2.5”
