They're Back! After much investigation, we have finally managed to establish a suitable upgrade for the Mk2/2.5 & Mk3/3.5 door speakers! These are the 2 way JVC upgrades and are the perfect answer to transform the sound qualilty from your stereo. Features -  2-Way Coaxial250W Peak/30W RMS PowerFrequency Response: 35 - 22,000HzSound Pressure Level: 92dB/W.mMica Cone WooferPoly-Ether Imide Balanced TweeterFerrite Magnet (Woofer)Hybrid SurroundThese are suitable for both the Mk2/2.5 and Mk3 & 3.5 models, and will fit into the standard speaker holder using the existing mounting holes. In order to acheive a perfect fit in the Mk2/2.5 however, we suggest two minor adaptions. The first is to remove the two "tags" on the edge of the speaker, and the second is to trim a small piece from the back of the plastic holder in the door. Please see the larger photos for more details. Also, should you wish to return your car to standard at any time, we advise when cutting the factory plug off the existing wiring, cut it a few centimetres back from the plug leaving you enough wiring to rejoin should you need to.When fitting these to a Mk3 or 3.5, please note that on the drivers side speaker, the black/white wire is the positive, and the red/orange wire is negative, then on the passenger side the orange wire is the positive and the green wire is negative.Fits all Mk2, 2.5, Mk3, Mk3.5 & 3.75 models, 1998>2015Please note: These will not fit Mk2/2.5 or Mk3/3.5 models fitted with a Bose system, or Mk2 Euphonic Special Editions with the upgraded Sony Stereo system.

Good price-quality ratio. Installation was pretty easy after watching a video on Youtube about how to remove the door panels. These speakers are a proper upgrade for your MX-5. The sound is good, not the best available ofcourse (look at the price) but definitely way better than the original speakers.

With a very annoying rattle and having had Focal speakers in previous cars, I was a little reluctant to buy all in ones rather than component speakers, but didn't want to spend out as want to change the car in 2 years. These little beauties are fantastic value for money and I can now actually hear the lyrics on songs, with the stock speakers it was all a bit muffled! These are well worth the money, very straightforward to fit but I would highly recommend buying a trim removal tool as it makes life soooo much easier!!!I have a 57 plate Sport and these are well worth the money, a brilliant upgrade!

Excellent product for a great price. Installed these the other day and the noticeability in sound and quality compared to the standard mk2 speakers is brilliant.

Having bought a new JVC head unit the OE speakers were very weak. After a lot of looking around and reading the reviews I plumped for these speakers.I have to say it is one of the easiest mods you can do and I was a little concerned at first. The door cards came off very easily and fitting the speakers was a breeze. Just follow the illustrations that are on the website. The difference after fitting them was enormous. The bass was great as was the volume. The speakers come with spade connectors that fit onto the positive and negative terminals. You just snip the cables of the old speakers and connect the 2 wires. I used a red compression connector. The whole thing took about 1 hour, taking my time. You will require something to cut the rear of the speaker holder as in the photo, I used a dremel bit and smoothed if off with a file. The old speaker is stuck to the housing and I used a hairdryer to soften the glue to make it easier to prise them apart. In SummaryA very good set of speakers, brilliant upgrade and easy to fit yourself. Go for it.

I'd always felt that the sound sytem on our 2004 Arctic couldn't cope with road and wind noise. I fitted this upgrade today, it's really easy to do and instructions are on the forum for removing the door card. I soldered spade terminals on to the new speaker wires and plugged them straight into the old connector block. Now we have a much better sound, better balance between the speakers and the volume does not need to be turned up full any more, which I think helps with the sound quality (or maybe it's just my ageing ears!). Good deal from MX5 parts, highly recommended.

These speakers are an easy fit, however I was expecting a significant improvement on the standard speakers but they fell short of my expectations. I think they are 10% better. I gained a bigger improvement by fitting Dynamat to the speaker mounts and inside the door, this greatly improved the sound and in particular the bass. For me the cost of these speakers is not justified. Great service as always by MX Parts!

Massive improvement, particularly with some Dynamat fitted around the speaker grille on the inside of the door card!
