To follow on from my review in 2009, MX5parts did send out a replacement unit however this has gone the same way. Yes nearly 2 years later but car has only done 2,000 miles in that time. It is again the paint coating coming off from the base material the quality of this unit is NOT Mazda standard.Editors Note: Sorry to hear you have experienced problems with this again. IL Motorsport are well known for producing some of the highest quality products, so take this sort of thing very seriously. A member of our customer services team will be in touch soon to perhaps obtain some photographs that we can send to IL for their comments.

It took me just over an hour to install this tray and the arm rest after I deciphered the instructions (I would be happy to rewrite them in language that is easier to understand and provide pictures to go with them). I am very happy with the product; it fits well and makes a huge difference to the storage space offered in the NC. A bit of black carpet (I used an off-cut from a carpet tile) cut to the shape of the inside base of the tray also stops items rattling and sliding around in the tray. The finished product doesn't look like an add-on. A word of advice; when prying off plastic panels, use a wide flat paint-scraper or something similar to spread the distribution of force when levering the plastic bits. This will avoid damaging the visible plastic. My only criticism of the whole thing concerns the wire joiners provided in the kit. There are better quality joiners available so take the time and find two replacements. The ones in the kit didn't take the pressure. Luckily I had a collection of better ones in the shed. It's a pity that the sliding lid that comes with the storage tray is not optional when also purchasing the arm-rest. When the arm-rest is purchased (and I strongly recommend that you get this as well), the sliding lid becomes a throw-away item.Overall, a great innovation and one that Mazda should have produced in the first place.

Very usefull, who needs 4 cup holders in a 2 seater, it is illegal to drink anything whilst driving anyway.

The thing looks nice once it's in and the space is far more useful than the original cup holders, that's the main thing. Mindyou, there is no groove in the moulding supporting the right hand side of of the lid and consequently the lid pushes down on that side during opening and closing and feels a little wobbly. Also, as someone else has said the plastic is close to, but not the same as the original Mazda trim. Overall 4 out of 5.A tip for fitting. Set aside a good couple of hours and be very, very careful when levering off bits of trim. The plastic is extremely soft and prone to marking. I found a small (and preferably blunt) filler knife or wallpaper scraper with tape wrapped round the blade useful, especially for the side-panels at the front as it spreads the pressure out a bit.

Fitted this Centre console tray two months ago. it looks just like the old one but ten times more useful,i can now put things in, with out them getting trapped under the tray lid. and i can now charge the phonein there. but needs some kind off mat for the base, my wooly hat works for me.As for fitting you may need some patience, and some clips could break when removing trim.

Once again first class service from MX5 parts easy to fit , great quality I have run the I Pod and USB connection from a Kenwood KIV 700 head unit into the Storage Tray I Pod is out of site no diving in to the glove box to connect up and still room for mobile phone and other items plus no messy wires hanging about.A couple of tips the electric window switch wiring loom if you prise the clip off of the stud this allows the console to be lifted up higher giving more room to unclip the switch connector block , somebody said it was difficult to connect the additional wires to the original cigar lighter loom, much easier if you remove the two srews holding the heated seat/cigar lighter switch panel pull out and disconect swith connectors this gives far better access to connect the wires using the connectors provided.

Like the other guys said, it took about 1 1/2 hours to fit. Would've been quicker if the instructions were better. Though it is very expensive, the quality is good and I'm pleased I bought it. £5 extra for the mat is daylight robbery!!

Storage tray arrived in Western Australia a week after ordering. No problems with the quality however the instructions left a little to be desired until I enlarged them and translated the German instructions which were more detailed than the English. The installation took 3 hrs, partly due to the restricted access under the old tray and when installing the new. The removal of the electrical plug connections was extremely difficult. The connectors supplied for the power point cables were frankly, cheap and nasty. I replaced them with secure screw type connectors. It is a pity that the sliding lid seems to be only available in black and not in a colour to match the car trim (in my case Tan). Other than the price which is high for what it is, the tray is a worthwhile replacement of the original cupholders, which are one of the few retrograde aspects of the NC compared to my NB. The other is the screw in aerial (is there an electric replacement ?)
