In addition to my previous review I now have a lid that easily slides back and forward as the magnets have come loose and have disappeared some where . Considering that the cost of unit and postage is £80 plus it's a shame the manufacturer can't fix the magnets with a suitable adhesive...can I have two new magnets so I can glue them in with a reliable adhesive please.

Instruction sheet was a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy so was of little use product was solid enough and fitted ok I elected to not to fit the power point but glued the plastic surround and plug into the aperture where the power point should have been...there's a u shape cut out in the drivers side of the unit which baffled me as to what it's for perhaps someone has an answer..and don't be surprised if you find you have a couple of screws left over after installation.

Understand that the latch is magnetic. My cover cannot stay in the “latched” position. Guess the magnet fell off. Now my lid keep on sliding to the open position. Rather disappointed.

I really like this replacement for the two cup holders. I found it easy to fit and the finish is very close to the original.I followed the straightforward English instructions and all went to plan. Getting the window switch plug off required a bit of fiddling but I found putting a mirror underneath made it a lot easier.Connecting up the 12v socket with the Scotchloks was easy and the connectors for the new socket seemed fine on mine.I did read a previous review about the magnets and added superglue to both just to make sure they stay put. Took about 45mins to fit.

I want to give this a rave review but I just can't. It has its positives; usable space, an extra plug socket and visually appealing. However, it falls short in too many ways for me to recommend it.Perhaps the biggest annoyance is that almost immediately the magnet that holds the lid open or closed came away in moments and could be reattached, leaving me with a sliding lid when I accelerate or brake. Considering the steep price of the unit I would have hoped for better build quality.Of course, I could ask for a return but fitting it led me to being unable to ever remove it. Due to the crimps being so poor the only effective way of wiring it was to significantly strip the wires of both the car and unit and wrap it in insulation tape. If I were to take it out that wire would be ripped to shreds. All in all, I like the product, it just needed a bit more time spent on fine-tuning it considering the high price of the thing.

Fairly straightforward to fit, once the front and rear trims were unclipped (a bit tense not wanting to force or damage the plastic) did not need the extra 12V outlet just used to blank off the hole. A transformation in terms of cockpit storage and looks the part.

This was the first mod I made to my newly-acquired MX-5, so I wasn't at all familiar with how the car's interior is put together. Consequently the job took a little longer than anticipated. However, removal of the old unit with cup-holders was pretty straightforward once I had read the instructions a few times. The wiring was a bit fiddly, but once I had worked out how the spliced-in connectors worked it all slotted into place. I now have a very usable storage area which holds a pack of paper tissues, mobile phone charger, pen, notebook, travel sweets and other "essentials".The finish matches the rest of the interior trim (although if I was being very, very picky I would observe that the moulded ribs on the top are not quite as sharply defined as the original lid). The magnetic closure works at least as well as the OE catch, but with no moving parts to break or wear out.Overall a worthwhile improvement on the OE "cup holders" arrangement - especially when there are two perfectly usable beverage holders in the doors anyway!

Have just fitted this item with no difficulty. Can't believe Mazda didn't fit this as standard. Looks good and matches the rest of the trim perfectly. Not the cheapest of items but worth doing.
