Tony Dixon - TENOR FLUTE - Key of D
Low D tapered-bore flute.
The tapered bore gives this instrument a very responsive and solid tone, very noticeable particularly on bottom notes.
The flute is made from polymer.
A great beginner flute for all ages.

Lovely practice flute. Perfectly in tune. Light weight but unbreakable. Great price, swift delivery. Would highly recommend.

Thanks for the great review, Teresa! Tony Dixon one piece flutes are a great way to practise the bigger finger stretches and different embouchure of the Irish flute tradition.

It is huge! This is my first Irish flute and my short drummer fingers are getting a good stretch. It sounds nice. I really like it. And will be working on more than my scales very soon.

Wonderful to start with quality. I have shorter drummer fingers and wanted tho play an Irish flute. At first I didn't think my fingres could do the job, but they are getting used to it, and stretching, and it's becoming easier. I am getting close to 60, so if I can do this, anyone can! Looking forward to playing some tunes soon, with this beautifully, rich-toned instrument.

Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback, Simon - we really appreciate it! With another few months of practice you will be playing the flute with ease. Good luck!

Well constructed & visually nice to look at. As it's a 'D' flute, it is long. Thus, challenging to play given the distances of the holes. I am a novice flute player and find it challenging to get good quality sound. The mouth hole is larger than another 'D' flute that I own (which is much easier to play). Surely an advanced flute player would be much better on this Dixon flute. Just the same, I continue to try to play it.

Hi Denise, thank you for your review. If you're having trouble handling this size of flute, don't worry we have the solution. Try the Piper's Grip, it's a way of fingering the flute that allows you to cover the tone holes with ease, even if you've small hands. Here's a link to our blog post: https://blog.mcneelamusic.com/the-pipers-grip-for-irish-simple-system-flute-players/ If you're still having difficulty with this flute and need more advice please email us at service@mcneelamusic.com

I love this flute, it's tone is amazing. When I feel I've earned one, I'll step up to a wood model flute. Thank you for the wonderful instrument.

I'm a beginner on the Irish flute and am enjoying playing my new D flute TB014. I'm still working on emboucher control. Tricky, yes. The flute is lovely for me. Thank you so much
