“Acceptable...just! If you have tried any of these LED version R7s dimmable lamps before, you'll know first-hand that most of them are unfit for purpose - so it's a step forward that this lamp actually works...of sorts. The good: Its actually fairly warm. The bad: Its only warm on the brightest setting - much of the usable dimming range causes it to flicker - and when it restabilises on the low setting it's a much colder light than a standard halogen. It also does make an audible buzzing sound - especially when dimmed, but given the dimmed range produces a flicker it's not so much of an issue. On full brightness, the buzz sound is at its quietest and barely noticeable, but on the lowest non-flickering setting it is reasonably noticeable...but not horrendous. Overall this makes the product just about usable on the brightest setting to save on electricity costs - but still a long way off from being a perfect halogen replacement.”

“Sold as being dimmable. Correct but only at higher levels of light output. Flickers below about halfway. Otherwise good, therefore acceptable. Delivery prompt.”

“How clever of Osram to put the contact pins off-centre! I was able to replace the halogen bulb in my wall uplight just-like-that. The dimmer switch already in place worked just fine, too. 20 seconds' work and I was on LED. Bravo. Who knows, it may even pay for itself in electricity and replacement bulb cost, but, whatever, I feel I am helping to save the planet.”
