Easy to install, does the job but it is not very substantial and the thin metal easily bends, also there is no plastic diffuser/cover. You get what you pay for.

The ordering, despatch, and delivery of the product was fine. The quality of the product is good and installation was straightforward. It is now delivering a good light in the workshop. My one disappointment is that the product was not supplied complete with tube. It was necessary to shop separately for this subsequently - a task which was not totally straightforward as there are some LED tubes (those requiring a starter motor) which are not compatible with this fitting.

This batten is good-value, lightweight, generally well-made and serves its (admittedly straightforward) purpose very well. However, these are a couple of niggles: (1) Because of the mains grommet and other protrusions at the rear of the unit, it does not lie perfectly flush against a flat surface...a couple of 4mm or 5mm plastic spacers around the affixing screw-holes would have prevented this problem. (2) The two screw holes at the back of the batten are pretty small and allow very little latitude for fine adjustment...so make sure you drill your holes in the supporting masonry or wood precisely. And (3) The mains inlet hole/grommet is located very near the 'Live' end of the batten. So if this is a direct replacement for an old fluorescent fitting - which usually have central mains inlet holes - you'll probably need to drill a central hole in this unit and do a little re-wiring with extra leads and a connector. This is, indeed, what I had to do. Thankfully, the metal casing is relatively thin, so drilling a new hole wasn't really a problem, but you do need to file down any rough edges and/or fit a new grommet to prevent damage to the mains cable. Also, I was able to salvage a couple of leads and a connector block from the old fluorescent fitting to extend the live, neutral and earth mains wires to the 'Live' end of the fitting. None of this would be a problem for an electrician or a relatively-competent DIY-er, but potential purchasers should be aware that fitting this unit may not be quite as straightforward as they were hoping. In my own case, the batten is now up and working perfectly, and given the long-term reliability of LED lamps, I hopefully won't need to touch it again for a couple of years!

Excellent product and easy to install A bit confusing though as I received a free starter but the unit doesn't require a starter!
