Early days yet, but the machine is good. I had an initial problem with the handset/zapper. It was on the same frequency as the Freesat pvr we have. Support gave instruction on how to retune the Freesat zapper. No problem but it’s a shame advice on this issue didn’t come with the machine: I had to ask. The FVP zapper cannot be retuned. MrsD did comment that the zapper supplied appears to be less substantial than the others. I think the screen that pulls together all the available services is good. (Terrestrial Freeview, internet BBC iPlayer and similar tv recall players, and internet pay tv/film channels etc). The conventional freeview guide is there on its own if you want. Frankly Mrsd is having a problem getting her head round it all. It was the same with the ancient Topfield pvr we had, but she ended up liking that (I Think). I only bought this fvp because the BBC iPlayer deserted the Samsung so called smart. (I would call it smug) tv, and I felt we needed a better way round all the oki boxes (whatever they may be called) when trying to find catch up tv that wasn’t recorded. If you hate the wretched shouting bits (sorry, adverts) when watching ITV catch up, you can register with ITV and omit said ads. Not sure if there’s any fee, I’ve yet to do this.

I also have a Humax FVP 4000T 1TB This 5000 is grate improvement, I like the remote and its layout, when its recording having the light on the box blue and red this helps to see where you are. Recordings play back having the choice of grid or list. So so far a great improvement on the 4000T

We love our new PVR, and not just because our old non-HD machine had become unreliable. The picture quality is fantastic and it hasn't missed a single scheduled recording, yet. Our supposedly 'smart' TV has lost several of the on-demand apps it came with, so we are pleased to have them back, via the Humax. It's also great to be able to record so many programmes at one time. Users have to be patient, however, as the menus take time to negotiate and the machine does not respond instantly to clicks on the remote. The EPG takes some time to populate, especially the data that comes via the ethernet connection to the internet. There's also a couple of niggles: such as the way it defaults to the most recent episode in a series, not the earliest; and the shine-down LED, which makes it hard to see whether the machine is on or off. But overall, so far, we are very happy and would recommend it highly.

This is an excellent example of a future looking company of the Highest quality. Our box is everything that we wanted, and in my opinion the best on the Market. The user interactive system is , very different from the systems on older models eg, T2. So it's best to read the manual prior to installation. However, once read everything starts to make sense. It only took me 30 minutes after the wires installation. Including the Wi-Fi setup which is case sensitive. The Audio and visual are excellent with the full Freeview Play by scrolling back upto 8 days a good Bonus. Finally, the Fact that you can record upto 4 channels at the same time all but eliminates any conflicting recordings, All this inside a casing with a Much reduced footprint. and a redesigned remote that makes the system reliable, with a good reproduction.
