Had a few highly issues setting the unit up but a call to support line got it sorted. I must say I was immediately impress with the picture quality. I've hàd the unit some 4 weeks now and can honestly say after finding my way around the unit it's absolutely awesome! Initially I pondered over whether to purchase this recorder or not as not many places stock this model. However, if you're in the same mind think again because I am absolutely over the moon with it guaranteed, just get it

After owning a HDR Fox-T2, I thought I would use the extra tuners and large hard drive of this 5000T 2TB to record a lot more HD which it does with ease. Once you get used to the easy menu system, navigation to what you what is easy. Lack of display on front does not worry me, however the led light sits underneath at the front of the unit, Red/off. Blue/on and Purple/record. You cannot see this light unless you stand close or over the unit to see if unit is or off (whilst tv not in av) it is annoying. I’ve put piece of foil to reflect the light.

Menus are a bit more complicated than older ones. There's not even a Menu button any more. I've already forgotten how to access the set-up menus. Some operations take a bit longer because the software takes longer to react to input. It's also a fraction less intuitive. I also suspect that the remote will have the same problem as the older models; button failure, requiring replacement. I can't see any way to advance 24 hours in the 'Guide' menu. It only has a 2-hour advance, which makes it more laborious to do repeats when there is not a 'series' option, e.g. some radio programmes that I want it to switch to every day. There's no Scart port; only HDMI. No problem unless you want to connect it to an older TV. Record quality is excellent, as we have come to expect from Humax. So far no dropped recordings as far as I know.

Very pleased with it even though it is early days and I am still getting to grips with all the possibilities. Such a wonderful lightweight and well designed bit of kit.

Over all happy with this box, 2TB has plenty of space to use as a store on home network, the Humax apps feel like they need a update and why are their three of them, the box run very hot dont know why, other reviews have said it is slow to switchbetween channels and screens it is very slow, and the steps to select the oldest recording in a series are far to many, same problem with deleting to many steps, Netflick built in is good but has crashed several times. The ablity to record 4 programs at same time is great series link, and catchup. All my problems could be fixed with a software update so fingers crossed Humax will keep developing

This replaced a Humax PVR-9300T which had become unreliable. So initially I was disconcerted by two things: the lack of the 'commercial skip' button and 'bookmark' buttons. However I found that on the FVP-5000T with a little practice the 'Fast Forward' button can be used very effectively to skip programme content quickly and accurately and the option to resume viewing where you last viewed the programme is as convenient as the bookmarking function for most cases. The text of the programme guide is rather small on my TV screen whereas that of the PVR 9300T was larger and clearer. Time has passed and new TV screen sizes are a bit larger than mine so when I replace my TV I assume that the text will then be at least as legible as hitherto. I have still to discover the quickest and most convenient way to access catch-up programmes. I can access them, e.g. BBC I-Player, but I will need more practice to display them before my wife complains that I don't know what I am doing! I find the Product Manual pretty basic. Compared with that for the PVR-9300T it seems like a 'cost reduced' version.
