I love the facility of being able to record 4 things at the same time. The software however is very cumbersome when viewing recordings.

The FVP-5000T 1TB recorder is a replacement for my existing HDR-FOX T2 Humax recorder simply because it has the capacity to record 4 different programmes at one time, whereas the existing unit although working perfectly, allows only two programme recording. I have had the existing recorder, which was also a refurbished unit direct from Humax, for at least 7 years and it is still working as if new. I have had excellent service from my existing unit, so it was an easy choice to go for another Humax recorder and the 5000T is already hard at work and doing a super job. Currently, I am still using the old unit as well as the new, so have capacity to record up to 6 programmes simultaneously!

I had an earlier Humax model which was excellent, but didn't have some of the features that I wanted. The software on this model is absolutely full of bugs (I'm fairly sure my issues are not hardware - I worked in IT for over 40 years). Search doesn't work on YouTube (one of my reasons for buying this model) and it often 'loses' the FreeviewPlay and ability to see the past schedule (my second main reason for purchase). The latter problem is always, but temporarily, resolved by unplugging from the mains (why is there no facility for reboot?). When the past schedule is lost it seems unable to cope with attempts to record too many programs at once (no message) - another problem resolved by power off/on. When playing a recording on USB (copied from my previous box) it wouldn't fast forward after 1.5 hours and would replay from the beginning. I could go on. I'm so glad I didn't go for the very latest model due to the number of bugs that it will undoubtedly contain. Modern software developers (especially ones from overseas) seem incapable of proper testing.

Very pleased. Easy to use. Only fault I could fined was you cannot see if the box is off or on without getting up and look for it as it is in a stupid position.
