“From my point of view as a serial user of Humax products it seems to me that the software - operating systems seem to get far less user friendly with each successive model. I have to say that the user systems on my original Humax DTR-T1010 were simple to understand and didn't require interminable button pushing (although since a recent update those have been superseded by something that is a lot less straightforward). The systems on recorder are clunky, slow to react and involve endless use of th OK and up/down buttons. This machine is definitely not an improvement on it's grandparents and frankly I wouldn't be recommending it.”
“I've had a few Humax digital recorders in the past, but this is by far the worst. The box is really noisy. At first I thought there was a lorry parked outside my house with its engine running till I realised it was the box! It records random programmes I haven't selected, doesn't record full series despite using the series link feature - it records for a couple of weeks or so then records alternative programmes instead that are added to the same folder so you think it has recorded more episodes, but it hasn't done the right one. It misses the start of the programmes so you have to set a buffer which is annoying as it doesn't have a skip button (my old YouView box could skip in one minute intervals). When it does record multiple episodes of a programme, when you select the programme from the list it takes you to the most recent episode and not the first. Why you would want to watch the last episode first beats me, and then it is really slow to navigate up the list to the top. The BBC Sounds app doesn't work. It plays for about 10 minutes then loops a 60 second chunk over and over, even if you switch off and back on it is stuck on that same short loop. Tech support just tell me to use a different device to listen to BBC radio instead. Sheesh! The good things are that you can set a favourite channels list in the programme guide, but it doesn't let you set it as the default list. you have to manually change that each time, which is annoying. It has a huge 1 TB of storage so there is plenty of room, especially if you record in SD. Definitely wouldn't recommend.”
