Humax HDR-2000T 500GB Freeview HD Recorder Reviews

Disappointing. I have a FOXSAT-HDR recorder and an old PVR-9300T recorder which are both completely silent in operation. This HDR 2000T recorder is noisy, 'chuntering' away (a word I've made up to describe the intermittent lowish frequency chattering noise it makes) whenever in recording mode: really annoying and disturbing when watching quiet periods in films in particular. Works very well and easy to set up. The remote has lost the tv/radio button and I don't like the click every time the buttons are pressed and the tv portal is no longer available but I can get catch up etc by bypassing the recorder

I have so far had limited use of my new recorder which replaces one I had for a number of years and am hopefully coming to terms with differences in use between the two. I am monitoring use of the new one as I have encountered two issues. On one occasion after pressing the MENU button and selecting VIDEO there was no response. The other issue concerns recording a series of programmes. I selected a series, but only the first programme was recorded. If this experience continues I shall need to get in touch with Humax about it.

It has taken a while to come to terms with the User Manual where, amongst other foibles, the contents page frequently misdirects a reader to a wrong page for given a topic. Also there are three different buttons on the handset which access discrete aspects of the comprehensive menu structures that may be displayed on TV screen. This is forgiven because we use this recorder to support viewing on a long-serving Mitsubishi CT-2555-STX Analogue TV receiver. Whilst the Humax product does not give any advice on this mode of operation we have (with help from Meadhbh of Humax Customer Support) established reliable procedures that meet our needs.

Kept losing the sound and the picture froze intermittently. Disappointed with the purchase.

My first box was very good but it developed a fault. It switched off over night and very often when in use .I tried all the guidelines from the online forums and from Humax but no avail . After contacting Humax it was suggested that they send me a replacement box, which came within a week. My replacement box has been in use for two weeks and at the moment is behaving well. As with the first box the picture is very very good and the box is easy to set up and use. I do not miss Sky and regret not getting a freesat box earlier. In conclusion Humax are very good to deal with and i am confident that, as they say, are willing to help resolve any issues.
