The world renowned Kizer Vagnino Zipslip is now available as a Heinnie® Exclusive. In collaboration with the designer Michael Vagnino and Kizer we have added some new features to create this exciting new UK friendly folder.
The handle, of course, features the Heinnie® red G10 handle whilst a newly formed blade shape creates a compact design and very practical Every Day Carry tool. The deep carry, removable pocket clip is made from stainless steel and will keep your knife close to through out your working day.
Blade cut outs have been replaced with ambidextrous thumb studs for one handed opening and a double detent lessens the risk of accidental closure during use. The blade is made from 154CM stainless steel and features the Heinnie® 'H' logo. The knife is supplied with a Kizer sticker and cleaning cloth and six replacement screws.

Take it from me I class my self as a weeklyn 7.5 stone wet and I can open it with a reassuring thud and ease with my right hand. From what i read high grade steel and G10 time will tell with the steel for me but love the design and colour

I don't normally leave reviews and I have bought many knives from HH over the years. This exclusive is another cracker from them. I already own the 'standard' Zipslip and did pause on buying this but, at the price it was a no-brainer. Improved steel, thoughtful changes to the blade design and a thumbstud for one-handed opening. The red scales give it a great and unthreatening look. The reason I wrote this review is that I did read some less positive reviews. Yes, it doesn't fly open, but I like that; it will mellow with use. The thumb stud positioning is fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and mine is that you won't regret buying it.

As always, the HH customer service they are justifiably so proud of was excellent. Purchasing was easy and simple, delivery quick and efficient. My issues lie with the product itself and why I give only 3 stars. The HH Edition of the Kizer Zipslip is nowhere near as good as the original. In my opinion, there are several reasons for that. I wanted a knife to hopefully improve on other EDC pocket knives I have carried previously. I am not a collector, I use my knives every day. I have become an unintentional collector by constantly seeking improvements on what I already have. I was looking for a reasonably priced, one hand opening UK Legal EDC with specific features. The Kizer Zipslip offered what I sought to improve upon my Boker+ XS. The Kizer was similarly priced but has the flat grind and a deep carry pocket clip I wanted. The XS has a hollow grind, great for slicing, but I sought a stronger blade profile for other tasks. Unfortunately, I struggled initially to find the exact Kizer model and specifications I wanted. Most UK sellers had sold out, including HH, one even stating the knife I wanted was "discontinued". So I bought the HH Edition and now wish I hadn't. The polished blade is ok but not for me. The drop point blade shape is almost a spear point with it's deep swedge and reflects light off it in all directions. The original Kizer Vanguard series has a more discreet stonewashed blade. Without making any issue over the different steels used, (there's not that much difference for pocket knife use), the HH Edition grind is totally different from all versions of the original Zipslip. It is much less of a flat grind throughout the depth of the 'meatier' blade making it more like a scandi. I did like that, and the chunkier blade, heavier due to the thumb studs replacing the Zipslip's original thumb holes. But the thumb studs and heavier blade are the major problem with the HH Edition, making it extremely difficult, very uncomfortable and at times, impossible, (when your thumb gives in), to open one handed. The thumb studs are too small and positioned in the wrong place, way too close to the 3mm thick G10 scales to allow your thumb to get any decent purchase on them. One handed opening is possible using the tip or edge of your thumb, but after a while you will have an extremely sore thumb and either start using your non-dominant hand, if you dare, or both, when a sharp blade is involved. HH could greatly improve their version of this knife by redesigning. Either a) enlarge the thumb studs and make them more comfortable, (as in the Boker+ XS), or b) reposition the thumb studs, or c) carve scalloped channels into the edges of the G10 scales almost down to the steel liners to allow the user's thumb, (whichever hand is used), to be able to effectively access the thumb studs, or d) do away with the thumb studs altogether and revert back to the original Michael Vagnino design. The free Kizer case supplied with my purchase was a nice touch but as the HH Edition has proved to be practically useless for my needs, it will be used to store the knife in a drawer. I have since been able to purchase original Kizer Vanguard Zipslip's with both orange and black G10 scales, in addition to the Micarta scales version and even the Titanium scales version. All the same designed knife, different steels used in the blades. I had to source internationally but well worth it. The Kizer Zipslip is a great knife. The HH Edition made me realise it's potential for me, hence the multiple purchases subsequently. But the HH Edition was otherwise money wasted. Anyone interested in the Kizer Zipslip should avoid the HH Edition in it's current form and look further afield for an original as I eventually did

Firstly great delivery and customer support from HH. Lovely knife and would happily address the thumb stud issue which really had me unsure on buying this knife for a while. I can confirm the stud sits at the same height as the handle... Therefore impossible to open if trying to push the blade out perpendicular to mechanism. Sure enough push 90 degrees to this and it opens easily (and I am no wilderness rough handed expert, even my soft thumbs manage it with ease). For clarification: if holding the knife vertically slide your thumb up the sheathed back side of the blade until hit the stud and keep sliding, the blade easily pivots. Additionally lovely blade and the security of using it with the index finger holding the blade open gives a much more confidence when applying pressure especially with the UK EDC rules. Only gripe would be the colour which I know I could have gone for the non HH edition, but I do really like the thumb stud. Overall fantastic knife and easily gone to my daily use knife.

First up, the packaging. I do already have a couple of Kizers (WPK, Pinch, ukl Sheepdog, Escort and I did have a Rogue till I traded it away) so I knew the packaging would be decent; the usual polishing cloth, sticker and warranty card not a surprise, but the extra full set of screws that came did throw me a little, though quite welcome. Onto the knife itself, and it's chunkier than I expected, with a real chunky feel to it. I immediately think of the Boker XS, which is a physically larger knife overall, but when I compare them on the scales that only comes out at 107g while the Kizer weighs in at 115g. So what's the reason for the extra mass? Well, the blade on the Kizer is the same thickness, and not far off in profile to the XS, however the grind on the Boker is much deeper, almost the full depth of the blade whereas the Zipslip has a grind reminiscant of a kukhri point, without the large belly and pronounced recurve. Also, the scales are slightly thicker than those of the XS and where the liners are nested on the XS, the Kizers are solid. All in all this means that although not the largest physically, the Zipslip is one of the heaviest of the HH exclusives. Whether this is a good or bad thing depends on your preference. The main difference of this knife compared to the regular non HH Zipslip is the thumb hole has been replaced with ambidextrous thumbstuds. Again, preference is key as some people hate thumbstuds. I don't mind them, though they can get in the way sometimes, but they certainly provide adequate purchase to open the blade one handed. And this knife has a strong enough backspring to need something adequate. Not the absolute strongest, but certainly good enough for me. Opening the blade, there are a couple of mid-stops before it clicks fully open. The blade cam profile is reasonably crisp and snappy. The shape of the handle is comfortable and reasonably ergonomic with the finger choil sitting in more or less the right place; this is a knife that i think will actually suit those with larger hands as there is plenty of room on the handle to accommodate a full grip.Bladesteel of 154CM is a slightly more budget option compared to the N690 on the regular model but is adequate and fits with the price point of the HH version. Blade edge is good and sharp out of the box and the bevel looks evenly ground. Ar the other end of the knife, the pocket clip is a large, functional but not overly stylish affair, deep carry and slips into a pocket nicely. At over half the length of the handle, the knife ain't going anywhere once its in. The g10 scales are nicely shaped, smooth textured with but with a slight grain to give decent enough grip. All over the knife there are no sharp edges and everything is nicely finished, which for a knife at this price point is often not the case. All in all, this is a pretty nice knife. I've largely ignored the regular Zipslip till now, but that could have been a mistake. This is a decent knife, and will be a great uk legal carry. I can't speak for whether the thumbstuds make it work better than the regular version, but I personally like the look more than the thumbhole

I'd been looking at the Kizer Zipslip for sometime, when the HH edition dropped it was the perfect opportunity and I'm now glad I held off. This is a great piece that is worth every penny and a fantastic service from HH as always.

You know the score: usual HH service etc. Ordered just before 4pm arrived 10am next morning! P&P up to the usual highest standard, knife arrived in perfect condition. The knife itself.....looks great, has a nice weight to it, not heavy but solid. Blade shape is spot on and a real plus - one of the things that draws the eye. I'd say 8/10 for sharpness but that's ok. Time will tell, but for the price I have a feeling this is definitely going to be one of the best EDCs I've got.
