Getting the Helvellyn running poles was definately the right choice. Light, easy to put up and pack away while out running. Can't wait to take them on the first mountain ultra soon!

I bought the Helvellyn poles as I wanted a lighter pole for running than my previous Leki gloved poles that I used for walking. Ideally I'd like even lighter and am interested in the new fixed length poles. Assembly and disassembly is fine. I've kept the original velcro straps to bind the poles together when stowed but they are a bit fiddly for that. Robustness seems fine. Length adjustment is very good and if you do pull them apart past the limit they go back together fine. I loved the benefit of the glove on the Leki poles for Nordic walking so you didn't really have to grip the pole at all but was pleasantly surprised that I could get pretty much the same action from the strap on the Helvellyns. I had one small issue with the straps where the connection between the padded strap and the ribbon that threads through the pole join together. I found there was a little sharp point there that was digging into my hand a bit and was concerned that it might irritate my hand, even after trying various strap lengths. Having just extensively used the poles for the Swaledale marathon (24miles and 3800ft of climb) this appears to be a non-issue. Likewise doing extensive Nordic walking and running with them seemed fine and could be done with almost no grip on the poles, just relying on the strap. All in all a thumbs up for the poles.

Light, small, functional, comfortable and strong - what's not to like? I bought these for my dad. I already have a pair, as does my mum. Don't bother with the more expensive 'big' brands, these are just as good, if not better.
