I ordered 50 ladybird larve for a greenfly infested rose bush. The box contained some tiny dots that I think must have been very young larve (they usually look like minute crocodiles). I hung the bags in the bush but there was no impact on the infestation (let alone seeing any larvae at work, or any pupae, or any recently hatched ladybirds). After 6 weeks, I went back to squirting with dilute washing up liquid, which worked a treat. I don't know if the larvae were too young, or it was too cold, or if they were dead on arrival, but I wouldn't order again.

Ladybird larvae arrived safe and well with very clear instructions and advice on how to release them. All larvae were alive and happy

Ordered lacewing and ladybird larvae to deal with a huge infestation of willow aphids and the result is miraculous! 4 weeks ago the branches were encrusted with aphids and now I honestly can't see a single one. Amazing!

They seemed to do the trick

I purchased ladybird larvae. They were much smaller than expected, just tiny dots. I placed them on my plants with greenfly. It was impossible to see them. I have no idea whether they did their job. No sign of them and still have greenfly. It was a nice idea, but once I'm sure they're not around I'll go back to spraying with washing up liquid.

The warmer weather has seen a massive increase in aphids attacking the garden, and whilst researching a non-pesticide alternative to the problem, I came across a lot of like minded gardeners recommending ladybird larvae as a more organic solution. One month on and I can safely say that they were indeed a resounding success! The green aphids afflicting my rose bush have been soundly defeated, and whilst it took a little longer due to the number of the blighters, I’ve seen similar results with a very aggressive infestation of black ones draining my buddleia. All in all, I can’t recommend this purchase enough.
