“Booked per instruction. Put ticket in machine on leaving after a week's hol and received demand for £270 or similar amount. Spoke on intercom after providing order no. Barrier went up with no response or explanation through intercom. Drove home without knowing whether we had still to pay £270 or not. Charge of £67.99 shows clearly on bank statement which was paid at time if booking.”

It sounds like our automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system hasn't registered you upon entry. When this occurs, it means our system doesn't match you to your booking and you are then charged the roll-up rate in error upon exit. This doesn't happen often but when it does, I understand the frustration that it causes.
You were correct in ringing the intercom buzzer for assistance. We are sorry that the car parking agent wasn't clearer at the time however, I am glad the issue was sorted on site.
