“I had quite bad acne from hormonal changes from coming off the pill and also I think a reaction to another skincare product I used for 3 months.
The first couple of weeks I was amazed at the improvement (no more sore inflamed spots and it was removing some of the old PIE). Honestly I was soo happy. However after 4 weeks my skin exploded into much much worse acne than I had before.
I spoke to online support and was reassured this could happen. I have ridden the purge train before and had hoped I wouldn’t experience it but accepted it. However after 8 weeks it was still getting worse and the impact on my mental health was taking a toll, I spoke to another support agent and I was really frustrated.
Firstly before I started using flawless gel, I did a routine finder which said that you can introduce products individually if you are worried. I decided to start with this product as I have been having reactions to retinoids.
A couple of weeks on and it was just getting worse and worse. I had every type of spot possible and they were soo sore. I spoke to a different second agent who said that I should have introduced the retinoids to help prevent the breakouts.
The routine finder also says use once or twice daily or as needed. Because of the extreme purge I had been apply twice a day and as an individual spot treatment during the day to try to encourage it to go. The second agent also told me I shouldn’t be using so much and maybe even less than daily.
I was really upset about the distress caused by the weeks of really sore breakouts and getting mixed messages from my routine finder and different info from the agents.
I ended up going to the doctors and going on Epiduo cream which is adapalene and benzoyl peroxide. Which bleaches my pillow cases but has begun calming my skin down dramatically.
I think this product may work if you get directions that match what suits your skin. I was impressed but unfortunately my after photos look like most peoples before! Really disappointed with the responses that I had.

We are very sorry to hear of your experience, however it is not uncommon for us to adapt our advice to reflect the way your skin is responding to your routine as you progress through your skincare journey, and adjust the dosage and frequency of application accordingly, as we did in your case. We would not (and did not) advocate using the products more than twice daily, especially in the case of actives, as overuse can exacerbate any irritation, hence the second agent advising you to pare your usage right back at that point. Hi Storm, thank you for getting in touch and providing this feedback. Remember, you're pushing out clogged up pores in a speeded-up fashion under the influence of actives, so instead of getting those spots over the next 3 months, you get them over the next 3 weeks. This is particularly common in those with lots of comedones at the beginning - so this pattern of acne can often look a lot worse before it’s better. Our advice is stick with it!
