I love this kind of lip balm - and any time I see the word "ceramides", I'm in. I've been using Lansinoh (lanolin-based nipple cream for nursing mothers) as my lip balm up until now, but the tube is pretty big for carrying around. Dr Sam's balm is very similar and works just as well, but comes in tube that's better size for carrying around. The only slight issue I have is that it (accurately) says on the tube that the product needs to be stored at room temperature; if it isn't it becomes literally too thick to squeeze out of the tube. That's unfortunate as most people like to take their lip balms out with them in their bags, don't they? And it would seem that my bathroom is a bit too cool for it, so I need to store it in a warmer room, which is a bit of a nuisance. I had the same issue with the Lansinoh though and i guess one might call it a 'first world problem" I can live with it. I will buy it again Im sure.

I love how thick this balm is, and it makes your lips almost buttery soft! my only gripe is that it's really, really smelly, which is why it will be more of a night treatment for my lips

May be just me but find it so hard to squeeze out of the tube. When I do manage to get some out, seems a great product. Could be because the weather’s cold right now, but that’s kinda when I need it most!

Absorbs rapidly' is quite the opposite of what I've experienced -- this seems to stay shiny and sticky on my lips for a very long time. But that's what makes me like the product so much! A gripe that I can see some people potentially having with the product is the smell: It's (perhaps unsurprisingly) sheep-y. I actually find this sort of comforting and like it, but I doubt everyone will. It can also be difficult to get out of the tube if it gets slightly cold. My mom swears by straight-up purified lanolin for her lips (the kind marketed towards sore, baby-chewed-upon, nursing nipples) which oddly doesn't smell sheep-y. Perhaps this is worth looking into if one doesn't like the smell or wants a cheaper option.

I did want to love this product as I adore the rest of Sam's skincare range but unfortunately this balm has a really awful smell. It has a strong chemical/musty smell that really puts you off wanting to put it on. It is moisturing but there are other lanolin products that work and don't smell this bad. Disappointing buy.

Another great product from Dr Sam Bunting. It’s rich and really sorted my very dry lips! The only downside is the smell.
