Vermouth Lacuesta Rojo Reviews

Read Basco Fine Foods Reviews

THE WINERY Martinez Lacuesta produces Vermut Lacuesta using only its own grapes harvested from several of its Rioja vineyards. The botanicals herbs and aromatic plants cold-macerated in white wine are aged in American oak barrels for 3 years before being blended with a white wine base. The vermouth is then aged for another 3 months in French oak. Careful selection of ingredients has earned Vermut Lacuesta a place among the finest aperitifs in Spain since 1937. TASTING NOTES On the nose it is highly aromatic, evoking the macerated herbs used: vanilla, chamomile, gentian and others. In the mouth it is a perfect balance between bitterness, sweetness and acidity with a long finish. FOOD PAIRING Perfect for mixing classic cocktails but also excellent used as the main ingredient within a Marianito cocktail, where 50ml of Lacuesta Vermut Rojo is mixed with a dash of gin, campari and angostura bitters. 14.9% ABV / 750ml / Contains Sulphites

Having tried a number of red vermouth, this is my all time favourite. Great in a negroni too as the flavour shines through.

Complex herbal flavours and great aromas, perfect as an aperative but would have liked some recipes/tips on how to drink this.

Amazing on ice with an orange slice, Spanish style. Or with 3 parts tonic to 1 vermouth (or half half if you like it stronger).

Great vermouth both for sipping or, in my case, for a more interesting negroni

Vermouth to a lot of people (including us up to a couple of years ago) was something you added lemonade to, a drink from the '70's, but a holiday in Seville 2 years ago turned that one on it's head! We drank a fair bit of this on our holiday but it was always served in a rocks glass over ice and we both just loved it. I wanted to test out whether this lived up to that holiday and I can honestly say that it did. It has a lovely smooth taste and works both as an aperitif or as an after dinner drink. Such a bright jolly label too.
