Tarta de Santiago is a traditional Spanish almond cake which originated in Galicia and that carries the name of the main city in the county but also the name of Spain’s patron saint Santiago (Saint James). Dating back to the Middle Ages, authentic Tarta de Santiago has the cross of St James iced on the top. Our ready to eat tarta de Santiago cake is made from ground almonds for a crumbly texture. Each cake weighs 700g and measures 27cm in diameter by 2cm height and cuts into 6 to 8 slices.

“I used to buy Tarta de Santiago freshly made when I was growing up and would go to Santiago on holidays. I was not sure if this one would be as good and I am pleased to say that it was. I bought two to share them with collagues and they absolutely loved it.”

“Absolutely beautifully flavoured cake. Moist, not overly sweet, and with a lovely texture. Generous size. Tried this on impulse after recently enjoying a Sainsbury’s festive equivalent (Tuscany almond cakes). Far exceeded this! Would definitely buy again!”

“have bought these previously, but bought 5 this year to give to family and neighbours. it is a lovely, traditional cake and suits one daughter-in-law who is gluten intolerant!. Warm the cake and serve with vanilla ice cream, its excellent!”
