“Despite being sold as strong flour there was very little gluten. I am an experienced bread maker but this gave very poor results. Lengthy kneading still produced something akin to putty with no visible gluten development. The finished bread was dense and poor texture. I note other reviews occasionally reporting the same problem and I wonder whether a batch was mis-labelled since this resembled spelt flour.”
“I don’t appear to be the only one.Have used Marriages strong white flour and have made excellent sourdough bread.First attempt with Gilchester had to add flour made dough to heavy.Made sure I measured correctly second time but won’t come together having to add flour which is going to ruin it sad especially since I bought a big bag.I use Richard Berliner method to hand mix my dough”
