“We stayed at the Sofitel London Gatwick the night before a 7am flight out of Gatwick.
Good
We found that once in our room there was no noise at all from outside which was great as we wanted an early night.
There is a very short walk all in a covered walkway to the departures gates (in fact you arrive opposite security) so all easy in the morning to get into the airport.
Poorer (not bad)
Check-in was a little slow. There were quite long queues yet the hotel must have known the number of guests expected to check-in.
Quite a few of the lifts seemed to be out of operation, and so with a high room you often had to wait a while to get a lift. This did result in some people trying to push in.
There is a restaurant but if wanted a meal you needed to have booked in advance as was "full" (there were plenty of spaces but they did not seem to want to take more) - there are a number of restaurants an easy walk away in the terminal buildings.
It would be good if there was some way to get a wake up call.”
“Great for avoiding the hassle of early morning departures, especially when you can combine it with twilight bag drop. Would recommend booking a table at Vivre on arrival as always busy. Really comfortable beds and pillows. Such a shame about the early start.Otherwise one could doze in comfort.”
“We stayed one night due an early flight the next day. Extremely comfortable beds and well air conditioned room ( as it'd been hot). In the evening we had a lovely meal at the Italian restaurant on site.
In the morning we were able to just walk to the North Terminal with our cases using their connecting tunnel. I would definitely recommend this hotel.”
