“A very good easy to use and learn accounting and invoicing app. I was a self-employed Driving Instructor and used this instead of an accountant. Untied do have help videos which I did not use much - as most of the functions are easy and intuitive. It organises all aspects of my accounting needs; and best of all for me it is HMRC supported to quickly generate and upload my end of year tax return. Brilliant time saver.”

Thanks for your feedback. untied offers the ability to start and stop journeys manually, which should be accurate. We also have an automated logging option where we deliberately limit volumes of location data - this is to help protect you. So a drive from London to Manchester should be identified (possibly in a couple of legs). But for short trips, we suggest you use the manual start and stop options.

“I simply asked what the price plan was. Twice. The first time I got a reply (surprisingly quickly) but it was full of questions, I didn’t realise at first it was a reply to my email and thought it was a junk scam email until I saw my original email tagged on. I did however get a helpful link after the second time of asking but also what felt like and argument about what my accountant does for me!? I found the emails quite unprofessional too and hate to see emojis on formal emails”

I'm pleased that we replied quickly. We have a number of partner relationships, and it is possible that we were trying to help you by finding custom pricing for you. You have raised a good point about the distinction between untied and an accountant. While an accountant can help you by filing a tax return, you are likely still to need software - especially when Making Tax Digital for Income Tax comes in. With the untied agent services, we can give your accountant access to your account to help them to help you. You also mention emojis. We write to be understandable, to help people follow the rules by being an expert in themselves not an expert in taxes. And emojis help communicate things quickly especially in support emails. We understand that untied may not be for you. Above all we want to make sure that everyone has a tax journey that helps them. I'm hoping that your excellent rating reflects this - thank you.

“Untied is generally fantastic - there are a few interface glitches but overall it's wonderful. I filed in record time this year and untied made it very easy. Just categorise your transactions as you go through the year and it's a matter of minutes to file, not hours.”

Hi and we are pleased to have you as an untied user. As you have seen, when you file your tax return, expenses come off your income and you then pay tax on your profit. untied makes this easier. It would be nice to get a refund from HMRC for your expenses, but that's not the way the system works.

Hi. We were disappointed to see your review, and have contacted you several times privately since you posted it to see if we can help you. Looking into the ticket, it seems you contacted us as a non-untied user about problems logging into a service that isn't ours. We responded twice promptly and politely to let you know that it isn't ours and wished you luck. We hope you resolved it in some other way.

“Cannot be used for self employed incomes above £85,000. The advice I was given was to appoint an accountant which surely defeats the entire purpose of the software. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this software for anyone earning above the VAT threshold”

Thank you for your review. I'm pleased you recognise that untied is good for those below the VAT registration limit (increased to £90k). We don't support VAT. Doing so needs more detailed record keeping and other ways of reporting We don't want to complicate things for all our users and as this market is already well catered for, for now we are not built for VAT filings.
