“Having tried several accounting packages in advance of MTD, I found most extremely confusing, difficult to navigate and made me feel stupid ... then I came across “untied”. It was easy to understand with clear labelling so each part was clearly identifiable, ie, Transactions were for transactions, Journey was for journeys. This may sound basic but on some systems I couldn’t work out what to put where, especially as it’s September 2025 and I already have 5 months worth of data to manipulate. It’s very user friendly and the best part is that when I mess up, ie with the type of format that the system could work with, there was Ashmika on hand to help me out. For anyone who is keen to get going on MTD, I can strongly recommend this system. I’ve been doing my own taxes for nearly 10 years so don’t need tax advice ... but I do need a way of satisfying the 2026 onwards taxation criteria for Self-Assessment. Well done Kevin and the programmers of the “untied” system. You’ve won me over 🙂”

“I signed up with untied at the test stage to familiarise myself with the functionality of the software and to test the level of support. I rent property, have pension income, employment income, receive dividends, interest and donate to charity. Just completed my first quarterly update to HMRC which worked seamlessly. It's easy to upload transactional data either by CSV upload or direct input. I am not the most techy of people and found the tech support really positive. So all good so far”

“A very good easy to use and learn accounting and invoicing app. I was a self-employed Driving Instructor and used this instead of an accountant. Untied do have help videos which I did not use much - as most of the functions are easy and intuitive. It organises all aspects of my accounting needs; and best of all for me it is HMRC supported to quickly generate and upload my end of year tax return. Brilliant time saver.”

Thanks for your feedback. untied offers the ability to start and stop journeys manually, which should be accurate. We also have an automated logging option where we deliberately limit volumes of location data - this is to help protect you. So a drive from London to Manchester should be identified (possibly in a couple of legs). But for short trips, we suggest you use the manual start and stop options.

“I simply asked what the price plan was. Twice. The first time I got a reply (surprisingly quickly) but it was full of questions, I didn’t realise at first it was a reply to my email and thought it was a junk scam email until I saw my original email tagged on. I did however get a helpful link after the second time of asking but also what felt like and argument about what my accountant does for me!? I found the emails quite unprofessional too and hate to see emojis on formal emails”

I'm pleased that we replied quickly. We have a number of partner relationships, and it is possible that we were trying to help you by finding custom pricing for you. You have raised a good point about the distinction between untied and an accountant. While an accountant can help you by filing a tax return, you are likely still to need software - especially when Making Tax Digital for Income Tax comes in. With the untied agent services, we can give your accountant access to your account to help them to help you. You also mention emojis. We write to be understandable, to help people follow the rules by being an expert in themselves not an expert in taxes. And emojis help communicate things quickly especially in support emails. We understand that untied may not be for you. Above all we want to make sure that everyone has a tax journey that helps them. I'm hoping that your excellent rating reflects this - thank you.

“Untied is generally fantastic - there are a few interface glitches but overall it's wonderful. I filed in record time this year and untied made it very easy. Just categorise your transactions as you go through the year and it's a matter of minutes to file, not hours.”
