“I am very happy with the socks but not so much with customer service, when nobody answers the Phone.”

Hi Clare, at busy times we sometimes have a to use an answer service. We are one of the very few companies who have a telephone number for customers to ring, most don't. Generally if you leave a message we will always call back.

“Order arrived quickly but as for the products I’m underwhelmed for the price. The hiking sock is huge, correct size for me but comes up large, wearing seems to stretch it so gets bigger throughout the day. Have worn on 3 occasions now 2x walks and 1x bike ride was hoping for toasty warm feet but still had cold toes on ride. It was 0 -2 degrees C and I was also wearing over shoes. The stripy everyday socks are nice look and feel. I’ve worn one pair on two occasions now and judging by their appearance I’m not sure they will last very long. Maybe I’m too early reviewing the products and 3 stars will be generous or harsh.”

“Lovely socks - but poor delivery process. Please choose someone other than Evri as your delivery partner as their service is shambolic - I am still waiting for an answer from them as to where they have actually delivered my package (which they claim to have delivered to my house, including "photgraphic evidence" ). Fortunately a neighbour has returned from holiday and found them......but poor delivery service undoes all the good of your products. Royal Mail, despite it's challenges, actually does not too bad a job both in delivering quickley and not loosing things (and I am speaking as both a consumer and an owner of two on-line delivery businesses).”

Hi Geoff, glad you liked the socks, sorry about the Evri delivery driver. We send 1000s of packages with Evri, to be fair to them they are pretty good although on odd occasions there can have issues, usually down to the local driver. Gald you got them and you like them. We will flag it with Evri so they are aware.

“Thank you for the opportunity to write a review. I’m happy to do that even though I still haven’t received the walking socks I ordered on 6th April. I know from having bought walking (and other) socks from you before that I will love them but 1. Most retailers make their products then sell them. I feel with this order that I have been funding your business whilst you fulfilled my order. Six or seven weeks to wait for a pair of socks is quite irritating. Hence my earlier email. 2. I have also said before that I find it frustrating that I cannot choose the colours I want in the quantities I want. If I want three pairs of blue socks or two pairs of yellow socks, I don’t want to have to buy a whole host of other socks in colours that I don’t want. I hope you will take these comments in the spirit in which they are intended. I love your products and I really want you to be successful but I don’t buy as many socks as I might do if your sales policies were a little more flexible. Regards Bill Thompson”

“The socks are great and they keep warm. The issue that I had was with the customs here in Bulgaria. It seems like there was a problem with the packaging and I had to pay more to get my order. I paid 16,30 pounds more and had to wait more than a month. That was not pleasant, I have received other packages from England and this was the first time this happened. Although I like the quality of the product, I cannot order it again because of this.”

Hi Helen, Sorry you thought they were thin, however you did buy everyday merino socks, which are designed to be for everyday use and thus are the lightest weight we offer. If you wanted a thicker sock you could have bought Harewood, which are around 15% heavier, or Extreme Pro Merino which are thick. If you have not unpacked them or worn the socks, send them back and we will happily send you some heavier ones.

“Socks are great! Communication would have greatly improved this review. There was an issue with the socks I ordered. However I didn’t know as there was no communication from the company. After a week or so I sent an email as I hadn’t received a dispatched email. A further week went buy and a chase email was sent. This time I got a response and I agreed to make a slight change to my order due the challenges with a supplier. Could have resolved a lot quicker had there been coms upfront. Socks are great as I said just help by being up front proactively if there is an issue.”

“Poor show. They e-mailed to say that delivery would be delayed (fair enough) so I asked if they could send the item directly to the recipient and gift-wrap it as it was a birthday present. They ignored me, despite a re-send of the e-mail, and finally (after a long delay) sent the item to me. (I had to find a replacement gift and the item is of no use to me as it's the wrong size). Won't be using this supplier again.”

HI Maryon, Apologies that it did not quite go as planned. The Christmas period was very busy and we simply were overwhelmed. We did not get your email asking for gift wrap, we don't offer this service. The size you got is the size you ordered. You must have ordered the wrong size. You can send them back for exchange if it helps.

“Hi I thought I was buying ladies' ankle socks, but when my socks arrived they were not what I was expecting, I also ordered the wrong size, but that was my fault completely, and I have now returned the socks and hope to receive a refund, once they are safely delivered to YSC.”

HI Kevin, Sorry your socks took 6 days to get to you, we got a little snowed under with orders. we do have a fast delivery if you require them quicker in future. Hope you like them and they keep your toes warm.

“The quality of your socks is pretty good but the ones I have bought are mainly for other people. I want socks that are much thicker, at least 70% wool and in PLAIN dark colours mostly navy blue and in both calf length and knee length. Hoggs of Fife were doing good ones but you had to buy them in twin packs inc olive green which I don't like. Also they recently reduced the wool content from 70% to 49% without changing the description on their site - in order to secretly save money. If you could make the ones I like I would buy a lot of them.”

Hi John, thank you for your review. Our wool content is very high compared (>60%) to most socks available in the UK. There is a trade off between wool content and the practical usability of the sock. The more wool, the less hardwearing the socks are and higher than 70% wool content means the socks fail to keep there shape. Also most people want socks they can wash in a washing machine, if we increase the wool content further the socks become hand wash only. So we have to be mindful of how people in a modern world want the luxury of high wool content and combine it with everyday practicality to ensure the socks are hardwearing and they don't have to spend too much time hand washing and re-shaping.

“Lovely socks, and quick delivery time. However size 6-8 is the smallest available and they are too big for my size 6 feet. Women's shoe sizes start from size 3, so sadly your socks are not suitable for many women. I'm hoping mine shrink a bit in the wash! Husband (size 11) is very happy.”

We produce our premium socks to UK industry-standard sizes. Our socks are suitable and are purchased by lots of women, we have many satisfied female customers that have left 5 star reviews. We do manufacture socks for women in sizes 3 - 5 in some of our merino ranges and 4-7 in our alpaca ranges. Glad your Husband was happy with his size 11 socks. If you would like to try the smaller size they may fit you better.

“Have been asked to write a review whilst still waiting for the main part of my order. The socks arrived within 48 hours. They appear to be good quality, but as they are a present they have not yet been worn. A week from placing the order the sweater has not yet arrived. I have only deducted one star so far due to the prompt reply I received from customer service yesterday, who have assured me the sweater is on its way. It would be worth checking the order has been fulfilled before asking for a review. Part 2. Now 3 stars, sorry. The sweater finally arrived 10 days after the order was placed. Postage label indicates it was not dispatched until the day after I queried its whereabouts. I was very disappointed with the way it was packaged. I do not expect a £100 sweater to be delivered in a plastic bag. Come on Yorkshire Sock Company, where’s the cardboard box and possibly tissue paper? Aren’t you proud of your products? The plastic bag made it look cheap and tacky and isn’t recyclable. Hopefully the quality of the sweater is better than the quality of the packaging.”

Hi Tracey, Sorry our packaging did not exceed your expectations, however, we are actively looking to reduce our impact on the environment and reduce the amount of packaging we use. Although it may not be the box, and tissue paper you dreamed of, (we do not say or show this in our pictures or descriptions) It is the minimum level of packaging required to ensure the garment gets to you in perfect condition given the rough and tumble encountered in the delivery process. I am sure you will be pleased with the sweater, made in Yorkshire from fine merino wool. Sorry you felt it necessary to give us a 3 star review, as you can see, we have 99% 5 star reviews due to our quality products and service.

“Alpaca walking socks. The website goes into great detail about the composition and the wearability. It also gives detailed washing instructions. At £20 a pair the socks are not cheap but I ordered them as a present for my son in law. I was very disappointed when the socks arrived because the label gives no mention of what the socks are made of. There is a paper band around them with washing instructions which differ from those on the website. Very disappointed to say the least!”
