“Disgusting drink.(ginger) Overwhelming taste of vinegar. Gobsmackingly over priced. I’ll be tipping it away. Probably make a decent drain cleaner. Don’t waste your money”

“Very very disappointing smells awful and tastes even worse. Felt cheated after such a great response from the Dragons. Obviously staged! I bought the starter pack-best part of this was the tonic water! What a waste of money.”

Our Ginger is naturally fiery and fresh, and while many enjoy that zingy ginger and lick of chilli heat we completely understand it won’t suit every palate. A quick tip that often helps: giving the bottle a really vigorous shake before each pour and serving over plenty of ice with a fresh slice of citrus can soften the vinegar aroma and bring the ginger and chilli warmth forward. “Too much vinegar and acidity for me and I couldnt taste much else. Shame as I love ginger. I also don’t expect to add other mixes to hide the vinegar flavour, as suggested, as this negates the reason for buying it. Sadly it will probably go down the drain.”

A tip that can help: giving the bottle a really vigorous shake before every pour balances the flavours. The apple cider vinegar is more aroma than taste once mixed so plenty of ice in the glass and a slice of fresh citrus can really bring out the ginger and mellow the edges. “Like someone else said it must be an individual taste bud thing but for me the vinegar was too strong and it left a disgusting after taste. Bit gutted that I’ve just wasted £30 on something that will now go down the plug hole.”

There are many ways to drink Mother Root, I like it very strong so use 50ml per serving, but I know others prefer a weaker mix with 20ml. We also have a variety of recipes so you can try it in many different ways. We also recommend giving the bottle a good shake before drinking to make sure everything is mixed together.
