“Boiled wool, natural. This fabric is fine to work with and to look at if you get the right colour. I order 3 metres of natural and the colour was just as it looked on the website which is always a good sign. However, I noticed a couple of very small 'spots' spread out over the fabric which didn't bother me at first as its a natural fabric and you get tufts like this but....after I had cut into it I noticed some other marks, again, shooting throughout the fabric. These marks look like dust that someone has tried to wipe off. I suspect that when cutting the fabric out it probably came into contact with the floor at some point as 3 metres is a lot to handle. Sadly I now have just over 2.5 metres I cannot use as there isn't an area on the fabric without a mark of some kind. I realise this is my own fault as I should have checked it more thoroughly but once I'd seen the 'natural flaws' I didn't focus on the rest of it properly. An expensive mistake to make and it's a shame as the fabric feels pretty good, just do not buy large amounts of the lighter colours as I suspect this could be a common problem when the fabric is being cut in a warehouse, or workroom etc. Despite not contacting Higgs & Higgs directly, they jumped straight on this review and got in contact with me. They were very apologetic and offered to replace the fabric, even though I couldn’t send the ‘original’ stuff back because I’d cut it up for smaller projects. Their customer service has been exemplary throughout this, a rare thing these days. The quality of their fabric generally and their customer service being as good as it is, I’ll no doubt continue using Higgs & Higgs for long time to come.”

“This is the third lot of fabric I have had from Higgs and Higgs and really happy with all of them. The third lot was a kit that came with a pattern unlike any pattern I've had before. I've read the instructions a few times, it says it should take 5 hours but it will take me far longer. I think 10 sizes on one pattern peice is far too many. I won't buy a pattern again.”

“Thank you for sending the samples - 4 being of a linen fabric. I discussed these with a group of sewing ladies and we all thought perhaps a closer weave for a pair of trousers would be preferable but for a dress, blouse etc they would be lovely. Do you have linen fabric with a closer weave please?
