We wouldn’t use any other hay net now! The reasons are many - from the laminitis pony to slow down his consumption of minimal soaked hay, to the racehorse who isn’t too fussed about food and wastes hay in a large hole net but eats what and when he wants from the trickle net, to the competition horses who need to make their allowance last, to using on the lorry reducing waste and mess. Trickle Nets is a great company to deal with. After years of use the new rope extends the life of the nets even further. Ours have been going for at least 10 years now.

I am very impressed with these hay nets. A valuable part of my control of intake of food for my very greedy pony. The quality is good and durable and the repair kits are very easy to use. Thank you trickle net for devising a cunning plan to slow down the munching

Amazing products which not only do a great job but easily outlast all the other 'small hole' nets too. I called for some advice on using the Original net with my horse and was given a friendly half-hour with Ellen to talk through feeding and management. This advice was not only eye-opening but has changed the way my boy is now managed. He is happier and healthier thanks to Trickle Net. I'd give ten stars if I could!

A few years ago I was delighted to discover Trickle Net. My horse loves his food and in his perfect world he would eat all day! I had tried several other brands which did nothing to slow him down. I didn't want him to be standing in his stable overnight with no hay and I didn't want him to get too fat. All my requirements are fulfilled by the Trickle net, and they're virtually indestructible. In the unlikely event of the net getting a hole, you can easily repair them with the mending kit. I can highly recommend the nets, they have given me peace of mind and kept my horse happy.

Very good. But bought one a while ago and drawstring rope frayed easily and broke.

Very pleased with trickle net ,after trying other brand's which didn't last over a month, it's proving to be invaluable in the feeding programme with our ems/ir mare .Highly recommended

Whilst these nets are strong and robust, don't get holes in they are difficult to fill. The opening is too small. I also think the holes are too small making my horse frustrated. They are also difficult to hang up as the holes are so small. If they had bigger holes and a wider opening to make then easier to fill they would be great.

Thanks for your review Laura. However if our nets had bigger holes they wouldn't be Trickle Nets. We design nets for the purpose of slowing down forage consumption, and the hole size is very importannt to the job they are required to do. We do sell screw gate rings on the website, and you can purchase these quite cheaply to attach onto a Trickle Net to make hanging your net much easier. The nets are very good at slowing down forage consumption, and if your horse is becomming frustrated we suggest you get in touch for a chat about how you introduced the Trickle Net. As this is a feeding change, it should be introduced carefully and gradually. We recommend feeding 50/50 with the usual method to begin.

Really nice net. Feels sturdy and is a good size. My only comment is that it comes in a nice fabric bag. I would rather it was a touch cheaper with no bag. I can see bag ever getting used again.

Thanks for the review Vicky. We totally agree with the packaging comment. For some time we have been working on a method to pack these nets securely, while reducing plastic and packaging. We'd rather not use the bags. We have started to phase in a cardboard sleeve on the Original Nets, and our latest products (Softee and Unicorn) are now bundled and tied with their own rope with just a label added. We just need to work out how to pack the master boxes without crushing the cardboard..... we are working on it!

This is a very effective slow feeding net and extremely heavy duty. There is one small opportunity for improvement: because of its heavy-duty build, it is a bit awkward to open/close as it is very bulky around the enclosure end - if that could be somehow altered to make it a single thickness, it would be perfect! I have the knotted version of this net as well and the unknotted one is just as heavy-duty but nicer for the horse.

Thanks for the review Susan! Yes they are bulky, we find standing on the neck and pulling the open end up towards you is a good way to get the net opened up. The Softee products are easier to use, and nicer on our hands for sure but they are very slightly less effective as slow feeders. (Interested to know if you have noticed this?) Thanks again for taking the time to give us a review!

These hay nets are a must for me and my pony. They allow her hay to last longer and they stand up to daily soaking and rough handling. Really well made and should last a long time.

Good quality net, however when it's full you can't close the top very well as the string is course and the loops don't squash together, therefore leaving a hole which my clever horse has learned to squash is nose in and help himself , so initially the Trickle effect doesn't work

Thanks for your review! However, if you read the packaging, there is an explanation for this. There are photos that show you how to simply thread the rope across the top and through the opposite side, so you effectively stitch the top closed. This works perfectly and ideally should be the way you close all nets to be sure the top can't gape open. If you close the net as explained on the packaging, you should have no problem with your horse getting his nose in the top :)

Definitely slows rate of eating. It means I can give our perpetually overweight pony a tiny amount of hay to keep him occupied overnight.

Very good product. Has helped with horses pulling hay down out of bale and trampling on it. Easily fits a good sized round bale. Only downside (and it’s not the product) was that I had to pay extra for import as I’m in Ireland
