“Location was very quiet and private. The house was larger than we expected so, as a group of 4, we had plenty of room.
Host was very responsive and we'd definitely return again.”
“We had a very enjoyable stay over New Year. The rooms throughout were nicely furnished, and the kitchen well-kitted out too. The ensuite showers in both bedrooms were brilliant. We had our dog with us and the provision of blankets for 'doggy-proofing' was a nice touch.
The cottage is in a great location, with a park a few minutes away (via steep hill down to the main road). Falmouth is only 5-10 mins drive and Flushing a similar distance.
We brought bikes with us and enjoyed doing a circuit at the Penrose estate on the edge of Helston (mountain or hybrid bikes needed). Truro is only 15 mins away too.
We would happily stay at the cottage again.”
“Great property in the centre of Grasmere , clean , warm great for cooking and close to everything and the sun shined for our week over the new year.i would recommend staying here .
Only downside to the property is the closeness of the flat next door which is about half a meter from the living area window and seating area outside. Unfortunately the visitors who hire the flat sit outside and smoke cigarettes whilst having a cuppa but as I said this is less than half a meter away which you can strongly smell and they can see directly into the sitting area in the small garden. I would suggest this is bricked up to give Holly cottage more privacy and hopefully stop the smell. I personally could not sit in a garden smelling smoke and listening to someone else’s conversation so close to me. However we still had a good family holiday .”

“There is a good choice of properties that don't allow pets as I have a family member who has a pet hair allergy. I've never had any issues with any of the properties that I've stayed in which have all been excellent. I appreciate the easy way to pay off the balance at your leisure. There is good communication prior to the holiday from Sykes and, if applicable, the owners. I would and do recommend Sykes to others.”

“We came to stay at Chy Kerris over New Year and we had a wonderful stay. We were a family of 5 adults and the house was extremely comfortable, clean and most importantly,warm.
Communication with the owner was excellent.
The position of the house in Carbis Bay is a short walk from the train station and beach.The road is quiet with plenty of parking - we had 3 cars. We did the coastal walk into St Ives and the same towards Hayle, then caught the train back from Lelant.
On our arrival there were flowers, lots of coffee pods for the coffee machine, milk, croissants and butter - tea/sugar - the kitchen was well stocked as we ate in every night.
The dining area was comfortable for all of us, as was the sitting room. TV easy to use, the sound bar was great too.
Upstairs the bedrooms were comfortable and from the 2 front bedrooms you can see the sea, which was quite a treat.
The shower in the bathroom was great with plenty of hot water for 5 of us. There were little night torches in the hallway and landing, which are helpful when sleeping in an unfamiliar house.
We didn’t use it but there was a courtyard garden plus the property had the option to recycle rubbish in their bin store area.
We would highly recommend a stay at Chy Kerris and would definitely book another stay here in the future.

“We Stayed at Elford Farm house in Northumberland and I wrote a review of the house itself that has never been published.
As for Sykes cottages…. We had problems at the house that took 3 days for some things to be sorted and seemed that the house had not been inspected. These problems were every knife, fork, spoon, glass, pot and pan had to be washed before use. The central heating had 5 radiators that didn’t work and we had to wait 24hrs in a freezing house to get portable radiators. The maintenance guy was fantastic however…The hot tub took 3 days to be filled and chemicals to be used so we lost the use for nearly half of our stay. There was also a bean to cup coffee machine in the advertising photos and when I enquired with the other problems. I was told the photo was just for aesthetic purposes and was asked if a bottle of wine was in the picture would I expect that to be there too? There is a difference between hardware and a consumable!! To me that’s false advertising.
Finally there was a stair lift that was broken half way down the stairs and we could not use those stairs as a result. There is also a safety risk on the same stairs that was pointed out to the maintenance guy and he agreed. I’m not sure if it has been looked at or not.
All these problems required repeated phone calls to Sykes Cottages to be sorted.
I was given a unique case number but no one contacted us, I had to do all the chasing!
I really should ask for some monies back and maybe Sykes will read this review and get in touch. We shall see!!!”
