“There are many watches out there that associate with 617 Squadron anniversary's, so this one took my attention. Having many high end wrist instruments in my collection I know a quality made piece when I feel one. This watch with its design, quality feel and automatic movement that graces many high end watch's has not disappointed. The makers communication through the whole process added comfort while waiting for the project to complete. For the price this is an excellent watch and will last many years. “Stunning! I could have left it at that but....... I couldn't in all honesty not mention the superb customer service Piers delivers in delivering what is a fantastic wristwatch. I am highly delighted with my purchase, now residing with other marques in my collection. The metal warranty card is a very nice touch as is the cleaning cloth, complimentary Nato strap and changing tool. Unless you live next door in Oxford you've no other option but to purchase from the images presented on the website, you need not worry, what arrives is is exactly as your mind has told you to believe it should be. Having now had the watch for a couple of weeks I can confirm that I am delighted with the quality and style. Although ordered on a green leather strap, a canvas nato strap was kindly included also, and the watch has been on this ever since. It suits it perfectly. “The watch is absolutely gorgeous, runs at -1.5 second per day and at 35mm diameter and 11mm thick, it slides effortlessly under a dress shirt cuff. Of course this thing is really all about the dial, and the dark blue shade with the Guilloche center it should be very dressy, but the brushed case says tool watch, add in the fauxtina lume and this should be a very chaotic design, but somehow it all comes together and makes either a very understated dress watch or a more formal than average field watch. Whatever it is, I really like it and see it getting a whole lot of wrist time.”

“I'd been looking for a British watch for a little while having thought about saving for a big brand Swiss watch but being put off by the prices and the waiting times. I stumbled across Pinion, and then realised their owner, Piers, is based in the next village - what a lucky coincidence! After a great deal of research, and a couple of visits to Piers' house to try on different models, I decided to go an Elapse in Anthracite. It's a really chunky, good looking watch that seems to change colour from light grey to black under its crystal clear glass face, depending on the light. I wear it almost every day and I just like it more and more. It's easy to read, has a reassuring heft about it without feeling clumsy, and works in formal and informal settings - I've worn it to black tie events and kids' football matches! It's a luxury watch you can wear every day and anywhere. Pinion watches are packaged up in a lovely watch roll, and mine included the tools I would need to change watch straps, as I had asked Piers for a stainless steel bracelet as well as a tan and a dark brown strap (and the canvas strap that comes as standard). The whole package is really high quality, carefully considered and just a little bit different. Piers couldn't have been more helpful. He was calm and patient, never pushy or looking to 'close the deal'. I know I was lucky to be able to speak to him and try watches on in person, but I can see he's got the same feedback on here from online customers, so it's definitely part of the Pinion service. All in all, I couldn't be happier with my new Elsapse, and feel like Pinion have got a customer for life in me.”

He worked with me to design a slightly customized version of the watch I wanted. I can say with 100% conviction watch was exactly as promised. In fact looked even better in person. Purchasing a watch over the internet is often leap of faith. The web is flooded with less than scrupulous parties more than willing to take advantage of a good faith buyer. Pinion is most assured not one of those companies. In these days of impersonal call center customer service it was a refreshing change to work with the actual owner. Even though this purchase was small in the present day of five, six and even seven figure watches Piers provided an experience that would rival any of the present premier manufacturers. “I like the idea of supporting a small, British company and having "England" (rather than "Switzerland") on the watch face is important to me. I chose Pinion because I had read good reports and a bronze Axis because I wanted a watch that would develop a "weather-beaten" patina with years of wear. It was great to visit Piers at his home. So nice to meet the man who actually owns the company and does the designs. Piers was brilliantly tolerant and helpful as I tried on various watches and laboured towards a decision. I eventually settled on the Axis with a blue face and a brown nubuck strap (having nearly been tempted by the green one and also a TT). I am really happy with the watch. It looks great; it has already lost its new shine and is already starting to develop the dull patina I want. It keeps good time too!”

“BEWARE: This review contains box opening and content spoiling! ;-) Cause I kinda "fell in love" with a red dial ATOM 39 ND prototype after seing a picture posted by a watch enthusiast on a FB forum, I contacted Pinion via Instagram to ask them if they were considering putting this red dial Atom in production. They immediately answered that it was not the case but that they might be able to build a custom-made Atom for me with a spare red dial sample (it appeared that it was the last one!). I was obviously interested in this proposal and, within only 10 days (including express overseas shipping) and after a few very friendly email exchanges, the postman rang my doorbell. When I opened the parcel, I immediately felt privileged. The watch box was wrapped in a very classy gift paper, along with the authenticity certificate and a personalized accompanying letter. The cardboard watch box itself is simple but the essential was inside. To begin with, in addition to the warranty card and the instruction leaflet, a very nice and large SELVYT “Pinion” marked cleaning cloth was included in the box, that I really appreciated! The box also contained an awesome "Made in England" high-end "Pinion" marked watch roll made of leather and (I think) cotton fabric, housed in a very nice cotton bag. This noticeably well-made roll may house up to 4 watches and two additional straps or tools. It’s certainly far more useful than most (sometimes as huge as luxurious) watch boxes provided by other watch brands, that often land on our shelves or cupboards! BTW, inside the watch roll was (obviously) the watch itself, but also a swiss-made Bergeon professional spring bar tool. Another very nice attention from Pinion! As for the watch (that is the essential, isn’t it?), it’s STUNNING! The (prototype specific) red dial and rehaut are absolutely beautiful and the lume hours marker fit very nicely. The hands integrate with the (no date) dial perfectly. As a reminder, my Atom 39 ND is equipped with a prototype dial that is different from the final design (not only the color but also the layout). The finish of the watch, that is designed, finished, assembled and tested in England, is remarkable. The 39mm (sapphire glass equipped) matt blasted steel case looks as solid as it’s beautiful, and the beautiful “Atom” engraved caseback (made from matt blasted steel too) displays the serial number of the watch, that is a nice detail. The “Atom” engraved crown is large, comfortable and operates smoothly. Even if the Atom is (obviously) not a diver watch, its water resistance is 10 ATM (100 metres) that is amply sufficient for a safe daily use. The ETA 2824-2 “élaboré” automatic movement that powers the Atom is a Swiss-made reliable, precise and easy to service movement. It’s a movement with a date complication, so the Atom ND is a “ghost date” watch (i.e. the second position of the crown setting – dedicated to the date adjustment - is operational but useless), but this should not be seen as an issue. Last but not least, the watch comes on a superb “vintage” style dark brown hand-made leather strap with a “Pinion” signed blasted steel buckle (available in two different length), that compliments the watch perfectly and is also very well finished. In summary, the Pinion Atom ND is an awesome watch for a reasonable price compared to the quality of the watch, the contents of the box (high-end watch roll, cleaning cloth and spring bar tool), but also the care given to customer satisfaction which is incredible!”

“The experience of buying a Axis II Bronze watch from Pinion can only be described as first class. I initially contacted the company by telephone & had a lengthy conversation with Piers in regards my choices that I was considering. He then further sent me some excellent high resolution images of the case & strap combination I was considering with some further advise in an email. The Axis II is available in several case materials but the bronze case really is a cut above the rest & with blue detailed face & vintage strap, you are investing in a true individual time piece. The watch was a gift for long service & Pinion gift wrapped the watch & also supplied two additional alternative material straps. The Axis II is also supplied in a leather watch roll, which is far more useful than a decorated box which is favoured by other brands. If you are looking for individuality, simplicity & traditional values, then you can not go wrong by investing in a Pinion timepiece.”
