“I've given a 3/5 rating due to the fact that it offers no more than Outlook's image compression capabilities. I understood that multiple images could be attached (over and above the 35mb limit that Outlook imposes), but sadly not. As Outlook resizes in much the same way as NXPowerLite, for me paying £48 for this 'add-on' is simply a waste of cash. If they can somehow 'intercept' Outlook's 'limiter', then NXPowerLite will be a real winner, until then, I would say stick with Outlook as standard for resizing your images.”

“It has done well with PowerPoint but not always the solution. I can get smaller pdfs on my own, doesn't do a lot with them.”

Hi Krysti, I wanted to help out by letting you know that you can change the default text string added to your files when they are compressed by NXPowerLite. Just head to the preferences and at the top, you'll see two input boxes to change the text for copies and backups. This is mentioned in the included help file but we are sorry that this wasn't more obvious! Thanks! Andy

“Am letzten Samstag versuchte ich, 6 Fotos in jpg-Format zu optimieren, weil sie zu gross waren. Das Resultat war gleich Null, keine einzige Datei wurde verkleinert, nur gelbe Ausrufezeichen neben der Datei. Ich musste also die Foto-Dateien leider in voller Grösse übermitteln. Was ist da los?”

Hello Jean-Philippe, Following your review submitted today, I wanted to get in touch to give you an update on NXPowerLite. As explained in our correspondence last month, we encountered an issue with NXPowerLite Desktop 8 upon release which rendered it unstable when used with a French operating system. I advised at that point that we expected to issue the French version in 4-6 weeks, and we will adhere to that timescale as the new version will be available at the end of this month. . Once again we apologise for the inconvenience caused, and can assure you that we will contact you as soon as the French language release is available to download. . Hi Rob, thank you for your feedback. I am glad to hear that NXPowerLite is working well for you. With regard to the Upgrade Assurance subscription, this is clearly highlighted in the shopping cart and is optional. If purchased the subscription renewal can be cancelled at any time, without the risk of missing out on any upgrades issued within the Upgrade Assurance term. We contact all customers prior to the renewal date giving notice that a renewal payment will be processed, and again there is the option to cancel immediately without affecting the Upgrade Assurance term. We have already received and processed your subscription cancellation, so your Upgrade Assurance will run to November 2020 and will not renew automatically. Hi Wu Thank you for leaving a review for NXPowerLite Desktop today. The performance of NXPowerLite depends upon the content of the file you are optimising. NXPowerLite reduces the size of files by removing any ‘excess baggage’ and converting embedded graphics to the most appropriate file format and resolution. This is done by re-sizing and cropping images, compressing JPEGs and flattening embedded objects, amongst other functions. As a result it is not possible to specify the size of the compressed file in advance, however you can adjust your NXPowerLite settings to achieve greater compression. To adjust your settings, select 'Custom' from the 'Optimize Profile' drop-down then clicking the 'Settings' button to see the settings available. “It's cheep and it mostly does what it says it'll do. Warning though. It does NOT support sub-folders. It can only process the top level folder you drag and drop into the application. So if you have organized your files into folders like many of us have this is a massive pain and really takes away from the purpose of the product. I emailed support and they educated me about how sub-folder processing is a "business" class feature and it's my good luck it's currently available in their server based product! What good fortune! Also you may be interested in this product to process "lots" of PDF files. Well it does, slowly. It's only uses one process so it does not matter how many CPU cores your computer has it will run slow. Again you are in luck! If you contact support they will explain to you how this is simply a business class feature and currently available on the server edition. Wow, I never knew a guy like me and my little laptop had such enterprise and business class needs! Perhaps I should upgrade to a server?! For a program that's using all free and open-source tools to do the PDF processing it's sure light on features. All the program does is create a script that runs all the PDF through free tools the author is using. Nothing wrong with this at all. This is just my review and my feedback on my project to process my PDF directory.”

Hi there. Thanks for your comments. I have spoken with my colleagues about your issues. the product owners are aware of the limitations of NXPowerLite with various different workflows and we will be improving them in version 8 of NXP desktop. One improvement means it will have the ability to traverse subfolders. The idea being that the folder structure will remain in-tact so there is no manual moving around of files. I will notify you when the new software is released early next year in the hope that it will work better for you. I will also ensure that you get a complimentary updated registration key for the new software. I hope that you continue to get some use out of NXPowerLite Desktop v7, but if not, my offer of a refund still applies. Best regards James

“I have purchased this in the past but my company swapped computers so I did not get this program loaded on to my new computer. I just purchased it again for this computer and it is showing up on the top of the page in outlook. when I go to send an e-mail with an attachment it asked if I want to purchase it again. “Most of the time Neuxpower reduces files reasonably, but quite often it reduces too much the quality of the text, making reading more difficult in the reduced file, instead of removing white spaces or degrading a bit the quality of the pictures. Needs improvements in this respect! For a few pdf files of about 100Mb , it claims it cannot reduce it at all! Inunderstandable!”

At present you are using an older version of the software, and we will shortly be releasing a major new version which will include many improvements for PDF files. “I took the offer of a 14 day trial of the latest version, as I had been very happy with the performance of the older version. The new version seemed much slower so I wanted to revert to the older one. Unfortunately this option was not possible, so I was forced to purchase the new version at the end of the 14 day trial; I find the new version to be slower than the older version (on my system). I see no avantages with the new version for me. It still does a good job, just slower.”

“I have reduced 2 files, the first from 617 to 281 Mo and the second from 148 to 26 Mo. That's far from the old version that reduced to 10% any file. Too sad.”

Guy, Thanks for reviewing the software but I think those savings you are experiencing are awesome! I think you may misunderstand how NXPowerLite works. Previous versions haven't been more potent, in fact the optimization is getting better year on year. The reduction very much depends on the content of the file. For example if the file contain large embedded videos or is data heavy then NXPowerLite will not be as effective.
