“This is a real review by someone who has just finished an online course provided by HSQE. I needed to do the IOSH Managing Safely course but needed it to be flexible so that it would work around my commitments. The course provided by HSQE did just that. For me the way the course is laid out and delivered suited me. The mock tests were quite short compared to the end exam. It is not a course where you can bluff your way through. You do have to think about it. It is laid out step by step. A lot of slides but with interaction. I would recommend this course.”

“The course was informative and relevant. It was very helpful to be broken down into clear modules and the informal questions in each section to check understanding were extremely useful. It was refreshing to have a meaningful end of course assessment that has practical use in my role. In order to develop and improve this course further, it would be good to consider presenting the information in different ways to support engagement and concentration. There were a lot of information-heavy slides.”

“The course was extremely informative and provided me with the confidence to take the qualification forward within my role to create a positive impact within the workplace. It's given us a lot to consider further as an organisation. The marketing materials used looked quite dated, I would recommend reviewing the colour palette, and the stock images, and adding a few demonstration or case study videos throughout.”

“In general, the course was well laid out and logical; which made it easy to follow. One comment which relates more to the time constraints I had while working through the course is that the number of slides in each section could have been indicated before starting the section. EG when starting a section with perhaps ten or fifteen minutes between meetings and then finding the section had eighty or more slides. it's disheartening to have to leave the section incomplete. I can't comment on the delivery as I have not received it yet and it's only three working days since I was notified of my pass.”

“The course was comprehensive and laid out in nice chunks, with manageable assessments and a good timescale for completion. I did notice one thing that I'm not sure was correct: On Module 4, slide 24: reference to regulations from the EU. Does this need updating now that we’re no longer in the EU?”

Thank you Rianne for your feedback. Rules and procedures have changed for some industries post Brexit. But the roles and responsibilities in the course remain the same.

“Although some of the modules are very short, the course does give a good level of knowledge and is easy to work through being well-paced. Support by phone and email is excellent, everyone is very helpful and accessible. Would recommend this course to anyone that needs an IOSH qualification.”

“Overall a great and easy-to-use platform - vital skills. The dashboard experience has been improved and it is more stable than it had been previously, i think it would be helpful if a candidate could see which courses had been completed from the dashboard, maybe a colour change in the title of the course?”

“I was impressed with the course content, how it was laid out and the easy navigation of the learning platform. Also the speed of the response, after submitting the course work was very quick. A few minor negative points, if sorted would make the courses much better. It was PowerPoint heavy and there was a lot of reading bullet points of text... maybe include more info graphics and videos would be nice. Reviewing test results for all the tests, it would be nice to see correct answers to the questions that was answered incorrectly. Overall I had a good experience completing this course. Thank you.”

“I have completed the course IOSH Managing Safely V5.0a, and found it good. There were very interesting sections with valuable insights. Nevertheless, there were sections that I believe could be more detailed (such as some of the ones illustrating individual hazards).”

“The IOSH Managing Safely V5.0 by HSQE is a good course, well explained and laid out with several gateways to ensure all sections are completed. I previously completed the traditional classroom-based version several years ago and so this was a great refresher for me. However, it lacks the discussion and deeper explanation that might be needed for someone taking the course for the first time.”

“The course material was generally well laid out and was always informative. The only section I didn't think was so good was the Hazard Awareness slides. I felt it could have had more impact as a film and with sound to make it more realistic.”
