“The enrolling process for the IOSH "Managing Safely" course was easy to follow and I was up and running in no time at all. The training material provided for the course was set out in an easy to follow itinerary which ensured you completed each module before moving onto the next. The "templates" provided in the exercises have proven to be useful. I was expecting a few more question on the mock exams but they did provide you with a flavour for the type of question that were in the final assessment.”

“I found that the HSQE training templates and process made the engagement very straight forward. The support was very good and very responsive. Also, the training provided was comprehensive and it made you work! I would certainly use HSQE again and recommend them to others”

“The online system was reasonably easy to navigate but occasionally difficult to get back to the home screen. The slide shows would benefit from them indicating their length so the learner can judge the time required to complete them. There are some grammar issues in the final exam.”

Many thanks for your feedback. We'll take a look at your comments in more detail during the next design review for that course. But to answer some of the points you raise... (1) Getting back to the home screen should be a simple case of closing the window that pops-up with the slide show in it. (2) We'll take a look at including something to indicate how long it is likely to complete each module. (3) We have to use the precise wording of the official questions / answers set by IOSH in the final exam. In light of your comment we'll take another look and see if it is something we can raise with IOSH.

“- It was good, lots of information to learn - Able to learn in my own time and take a test when I was ready - Sheets to work from after modules were good to learn in the workplace, looking for hazards etc. - Timing of training completion was a bit confusing”

“This was a great course with more than information to complete the end of course assessment and project. Sam provided great support and guidance as well as reminders to confirm deadlines. I'd definitely recommend HSQE. I'm now looking at other courses to complete with HSQE”

“The course was easily laid out and easily to complete at my own pace. The only thing I would say is that I would maybe separate out the Bundle as there is a lot to take in for the end assessment.”

“Unfortunately I did not find the course a good learning exercise. There are too many cross overs with CSCS. The presentation format was basic, slow and slide transitions tedious. In the course, too many questions relating to non-useful facts were asked with all answers seemingly plausible (e.g. how many deaths from falls from height last year 5, 10 or 15). What is the point in this as a question when all results are sensible answers?”

Many thanks for your feedback. This is the first 2 star review that we have received. (Our current average is 4.85 out of 5, achieved across 1183 reviews.) So we take your comments very seriously and would like to understand more about them. If you could contact us at tutors@hsqe.co.uk or 0333 733 1111 we would really appreciate it. To answer some of the points you raise: (1) We publish our course content on our website and in our training catalogue. As such, you should have been able to see in advance of booking the course that the content is similar to what is covered in SMSTS. But we will look at how we can make the course content stand out more. (2) The manner of course delivery is a difficult one for us, because the vast majority of our feedback suggests that people like the simplicity of the user interface, so we do not propose to change that. (3) We only use transitions where needed to distinguish one section from another. 90% of transition times are 2 seconds in duration. The remaining 10% are 3-4 seconds. We cannot do much about the 2 second transitions, as to go quicker would make distinguishing sections difficult for users to spot. We can, and will, however look at changing the 3-4 second transitions in light of your feedback. (4) Again, the asking of questions during the course is a difficult one for us, as other feedback suggests people like that because it helps to put the content in perspective and adds depth to people’s understanding. As stated earlier, we’d really appreciate it if you could get in contact with us so that we can understand a bit more about your feedback.
