I found the courses to be appropriate for the teaching that was given. However some of the courses are so long and i the same format that they do get a bit tedious, for example the IOSH certificate has an endless supply of powerpoints.

Thank you for your feedback. The IOSH course that you did is one of our longer courses and does therefore involve quite a bit of work. We’ve included interactive elements, tests and exercises to break it up where we can, but the syllabus is quite extensive and does require us to cover it all. As you also did other courses in the bundle, there is a degree of overlap on common elements, such as risk assessment and risk control.

A lot of reading involved, could do with more interacted tests and tasks along with some videos to watch to cut down on the reading side.

Thank you for your feedback Anita. That is a pretty in-depth course that you did with typical study times between 16 and 24 hours and as such it does involve a lot of content. We try to balance written content, interaction and testing based on the governing body’s requirements and customer feedback. The prevailing trend at present suggests that we have the optimum balance, but we will keep your comments and will check it again at the next scheduled review of the course.

I have thus far been declining to provide a review under the premise that if one has nothing nice to say it's best to say nothing at all; however, the incessant e-mails demanding I provide one have sufficiently eroded my resolve to not comment, so: the course felt more like one on esoteric nomenclature than health and safety. Memorise the buzzword for this, recite it, pass. Anecdotally interspersed with examples of HSE prosecutions and the vast fines attendant to them, with the presumed intention of scaring you into compliance. Of course, we all know that for those poor souls required to endure them, qualifications like these are less about actually learning something and really just about putting a tick in a box, invariably required by someone else who needs to put a corresponding tick in their box. For those delivering the training one can only assume the modus operandi is simply to answer the question "how thin can we stretch this and how much can we charge?". The answer in this instance being from about 3-hours to 3-days, and a lot. 'Don't hate the player; hate the game', you may call. Sure, but if you'll excuse a moment of pedantry, that still doesn't excuse it all being so egregiously written and riddled with mistakes..

Many thanks for your feedback. It stands out for us as unusual because it’s not consistent with other feedback that we get. But to try to address the key points that you raise: (1) We consider reviews to be a valuable source of feedback, but we recognise that not everyone wants to provide them. We therefore only send out a maximum of two requests for reviews and we never demand that a review is completed. A review request is sent after the course is completed and a follow-up is sent after seven days if a response has not been received. Our records show that you were sent two requests in accordance with that approach. We’re sorry that you felt those two requests were incessant. (2) The syllabus for the course is set by the largest professional body for health and safety professionals in the world and is highly regarding by industry and institutions in the UK and abroad. But despite its pedigree, it is inevitable that some people will not like the standardisation of approach that brings, nor how some institutions require their members to complete it. You’ll appreciate that we cannot do anything about that perception or viewpoint. (3) The course has been written by a chartered safety and health practitioner and it follows a syllabus set by an external professional body. The course has been checked by the external professional body and confirmed as meeting the strict guidelines that they set. If you can give us more information about the mistakes to which you refer, we will investigate them fully. Many thanks once again.

The quality of the material was good and easily understandable. My acceptable rating is because the platform was basic and I was expecting something a bit more interactive, with more visuals and more assessments at the end of each section. I did an online change management qualification last year which I felt delivered the material better.

Many thanks for your feedback Julia. Yes, it's a deliberate strategy that we follow to keep the training materials and learning platform simple. The reason is because our customer feedback has indicated that many of our courses are taken on low-powered devices (like older smartphones and tablets) and often with weak internet connections. We've found that our current design model means the greatest number of customers can complete the courses and assessments with the least amount of issues. It is a fair point though and we'll take it into account when we introduce topics that we anticipate will only be taken on high powered devices with strong internet connections.

The content was well structured, but centred on a set of PowerPoint slides. It would be good to consider some video or sound content to better engage and break up the rather flat style.

Thanks for your feedback Colin. We'll look at that when the course is next reviewed.

I found that completing a computer course meant that I did not absorb knowledge as well as if it was delivered in a classroom scenario. I therefore found this more time consuming than it could have been. Other than that it was okay.

Many thanks for your honest feedback Gary. There are a lot of benefits from training online (reduced cost, being able to dip in and out, no need to travel, access to a qualified tutor etc.) but we appreciate that some people do prefer classroom based training.

several typos throughout the course, there are occasional repetitions of points. presentation feels like several different people have written it

Many thanks for your feedback. It's quite different from what we usually get, so if you could give us some more information it will help us understand the points you raise and what we might be able to do about them. With regards the repetition, the organisation you work for purchased a bundle deal and so some points (for example, risk assessment) will be repeated as it figures in many of the subjects contained within the bundle.

Easy to access and use the online course, however you need an easier way of being able to print the slides for the modules, I had to print each one individually.

Thanks for the feedback. That's a tricky one as you're not meant to print the online slides, only the downloadable exercises that are provided. But we will look and see if we can do something for the next revision of the course.

I liked the flexibility of doing the training as and when suited me. I also thought the assessment was detailed enough to prove competence but didn't impede my day job greatly.

Excellent , thank you for the feedback. A shame we only got 3 stars, but always room to improve i suppose. If you could let us know what it would have taken to get up to 5 stars I'll ensure your comments are taken on-board. John Constable. Director, HSQE Ltd.

Course was easy access and simple to follow. Still waiting on feedback from my project so the personal service seems slow.
