The course was well made, the tutors were knowledgeable, and the overall experience was positive.

It was a wonderful experience in the Berlin campus. Lecturers were excellent, have a command on their course been taught. A very friendly environment which encourages you to learn and make a difference. You will always be informed ahead of time of any events or changes to schedules. Everything was just perfect. It was one year filled with joyful moments for me at the University of Law

Some tutors are decent and will put a lot of effort in to help and support, the rest are just there. Support staff are generally clueless about most things and generally disorganised. I was taught PI on the LPC by a barrister so make of that what you will. The course is probably "market rate" but there is no value for money and they will do just enough to get you through the door before slamming it shut. I studied postgraduate so the impact was less on me, but there is absolutely no "student" feel to the place. Unless you have single minded focus for your studies then youre going to be bored a lot. One final point, I never attended an exam where there wasnt a pink amendment slip on the desk because a question or scenario was wrong in the paper. If you have an essay or assignment, unless you ask well before its issued, they will not support or answer basic questions about it because its a live assessment. Im not saying dont go. The flexibility in study is great and there isnt a lack of knowledge and professional experience in the building. There just isn't any support there once you've paid your fees.

TL;DR: Pros - tutors very responsive and helpful; loads of careers opportunities and advice; comprehensive course materials and multiple ways of learning. Cons - classes segregated from each other due to covid; lectures all online; both gave feeling of being isolated I have just finished the GDL course at Ulaw and overall I have been very happy with my experience. Best of all has been the attention of my tutors and lecturers. Nearly all of them responded to my email questions within a day and all of them eventually provided thorough answers and responded to all of my follow-up questions. The day before my land law exam my tutor responded to all 13 of my emails within 10 minutes of each of them; the day before my equity exam, my tutor responded to a lengthy question at 23.20 - they were both very dedicated to helping their students out! In class, all my questions (there were many of them) were answered such that I never felt any guilt or trepidation about asking them. Ulaw also provides great opportunities to add to your CV: they have a very helpful 'employability service' which is available to help with CVs and applications, a weekly careers email bursting with opportunities (you should read it and take advantage of them, if you join!), and a pro bono team which sets up and gives feedback on pro bono opportunities too; I also ran for and played a role on the SU which gave me valuable experience dealing with committees and raising concerns of fellow students. The course materials which Ulaw provides are comprehensive and help you learn in multiple ways, from reading and doing activities in textbooks, to watching lectures, going through presentations and doing tests online, to accessing library materials in person or online. I did have a couple of problems with Ulaw. 1. lack of contact with other students: due to covid restrictions, all the GDL classes were segregated which meant we hardly knew anyone outside of our 10 person class; there were also very few social activities put on for students (though this can be largely put down to covid restrictions). 2. Ulaw's policy for the foreseeable future is that all lectures are to be held online. This was convenient in that I didn't have to commute into uni an extra day each week, but it also meant that I didn't get to mingle with other students in my year which was quite isolating, as well as the fact that studying from home led to more distractions than would be present in a lecture theatre.

Overall I think ULaw is a great university with fantastic tutors! However, I have at times been disappointed with how difficult it can be to reach assessments, and the fact that they don’t respond to any emails. I also wish there was a wider variety of assessments for the LPC, rather than just having them all be exam-based as this doesn’t reflect the reality of what it will be like in practice.

My experience at this University has been very disappointing. There is a handful of excellent, knowledgeable and supportive tutors and the books are very good. Sadly, there is also a number of obnoxious tutors and untrained/uninformed admin staff. Consistently with many other reviews, the University is extremely disorganised. The departments (such as admissions and individual campuses) don't seem to talk to each other and the University overall seems to prioritise money-making over delivery of good quality education. My experience consisted of: delayed start (due to departments not talking to each other), tutors not turning up to scheduled mock exams (because apparently they weren't informed), information provided was incorrect or late. There was an overall lack of competence and care, and the careless choice in the software that the students were required to use to take exams during the pandemic was implemented in disregard of data protection laws. Unfortunately, as it stands, I cannot recommend this University.

As a postgraduate student, I've really enjoyed my time at ULaw! The tutors are brilliant, they are very approachable and always happy to answer many questions. I also found it easier to make friends because we were always divided into smaller groups, which was nice (and also made the workshops experience better in my opinion)

Tutors and staff members (e.g. welfare and study skills) have gone above and beyond supporting my development. The teaching is second to none and the employability department has won awards. Highly recommend.

The lessons were generally good and they have good law related extra curriculars, but there is no social side to the university whatsoever. The student union is practically non existent and there’s barely any societies. The employability service is no where near as good as I expected and on the civil dispute resolution module everybody I knew was confused the whole way through. I tried to ask for help on behalf of the class and was told it’s just common sense and to just do what we would do if we were working as a lawyer!

Ulaw has experienced tutors and also a strong support system to help you through your academic journey, albeit you have to be ready to do the work yourself. I studied during the pandemic which wasn’t easy at all but the student service, welfare team, tutors etc all came through for me and I got my LLM degree!

The standard of teaching at ULaw is excellent and with great support from the careers team, it really helps students to become practical professionals as well as learning the theory. Communication is not great from an admin side but tutors are always willing to help out.

Absolutely no student support. I sat my first batch of exams right when covid hit, so we had to sit our exams online. 4 of my exams did not upload fully so they published my grades based on half uploaded papers with really horrible and mean feedback. No support and simply gave me a concession paper to fill out. Mind you I suffer from GAD and panic attacks so this entire experience had a horrible impact on my mental health. During all of this my PT didn’t bother to answer my emails. A year later, as I was RESITTING MY UNUPLOADED EXAMS AGAIN, he “reminded” me that the uni urges me to finish my exams. I can’t even put into words what this university has done to my health.

Lost my exam paper marked me down as absent from my exam. I then had to re-sit the exam. Poor communication with any member of staff.

Lack of support for students and impossible to get in touch with anyone. It can take months to get an email back. Exams were a mess during the pandemic, the online invigilators either didn’t turn up or ruined the exam whilst part way through.

The content for the online course was out of date, the support to part time online students was poor and they messed up my graduation im not in the year book, I'm missing my photo with Lord Neurberger and I was left waiting to go on stage for 10 minutes!

It was a fantastic experience. Although I had attended my Bar Course online due to COVID restrictions yet it was enriching in many ways. The tutors never made us feel that we are learning distantly as they were all the times readily available through virtual class rooms and emails. Virtual learning was a fantastic experience and more rewarding as that gave me more flexibility and the comfort of my home. However by no means the experience was short of learning...it was exhilarating.
