“I’ve had to block their phone number, several calls a day on autodial with the same message for over a week just because I used their site to quote a policy 12 months ago. Harassment calls should be illegal.”

“Got insured with Swindon, got a message to ring them asap,no number so couldn’t,they cancelled my policy and refunded my payment. Does this mean I have to now declare that I have had insurance cancelled?? Worried Hilda”

CompareNI is an insurance comparison site, not an insurer or broker, so we don’t have control over policy decisions once a policy is taken out. Any cancellation would have been made by the insurer directly, and we aren’t given details of the reason. We’d recommend contacting Swinton directly so they can explain why the policy was cancelled and advise on next steps. “For a "compare" site not to be able to find even 1 quote for a simple boat insurance quote is ridiculous. I have quotes from other companies already so there are companies out there happy to quote. I believe this is a data gathering site for sell on purposes.”

“I was unhappy with my car deal.The price was quoted £ 580 which was the same as my last year's quote.After a longish telephone conversation I was asked at the end did I have any accidents.I said I had an accident in August 2020 where the other driver was completely at fault.My quote was hiked up by £70 for an accident which was not my fault.Having spent so long on conversation on the phone I just accepted the quote.I won't be caught out like this again.”
