Excellent service from Weekend a la carte, from initial email enquiry to talking through our options by telephone and an easy booking process. Having never been to Iceland we needed help and advice from an expert and that is certainly what we got. Everything from accommodation (very comfortable and isolated, just what we asked for), the tours by extremely knowledgeable and friendly local guides, the evening meals (cooked for us at our accommodation or booked for us at local hotels) exceeded expectation. The scenery is stunning. We even managed to see the Northern Lights on our last night on a superjeep tour from Reykjavik. I will use Weekend a la carte again for a return trip (this time to see this beautiful country in Summer).

Dear James Thank you so much for taking the time to feedback to us and I am delighted you enjoyed yourself so much. It really is lovely to hear how people get on. I have passed your feedback onto the local team. What a super photo of the Northern Lights as well! Thank you for sharing. Regards Abigail

We had a fantastic trip- a trip of a lifetime. The people we met in Sweden made us feel right at home, were incredibly knowledgeable & we were able to enjoy a full cultural experience in our 3 day trip. Husky sledding, snowmobiling& ice fishing, and snowmobiling by night, the renowned ice hotel, northern light spotting and the local cuisine were our highlights. Everything was very well organised & the host was always there to clarify the plans. Weekend a la carte were very responsive & helpful & have aligned with some brilliant local people. Amazing!

I took my mum for a treat to Kiruna, and then for a few nights in Stockholm. Everything was well organised and communicated when I booked and throughout our stay by Weekend a la Carte. Everyone who we met locally was super helpful and friendly - the drivers, tours and accommodation staff. The quality of accommodation and recommended tours was brilliant and perceived as good value for money in the main (hot tub at Máttaráhkká Lodge was probably the exception as it was expensive for an hour).

Had an absolutely wonderful time. Food was delicious especially at the Wilderness Cabin. Locations were beautiful, scenery stunning. All the adventures worked out great. Best of all we were lucky enough to see an amazing view of the breathtaking northern lights.

Wow, this was certainly a holiday of a lifetime. We went to see the Northern Lights and were lucky enough to see an amazing display on our second night. The Abisko Mountain Lodge was cosy and relaxed with friendly staff and a superb restaurant. All the guides for our activities went the extra mile to make a wonderful experience for us. Would highly recommended.

From start to finish our experience with Weekend a la carte was a joy. Communication was always prompt, efficient and polite, and they went out of their way to answer any questions I had, and to resolve issues due to unforeseen flight time changes. When we were in Sweden, the lodge we stayed at mixed up one of the days of our activities, but Will (our guide) was extremely helpful and sorted it all out for us. Abisko mountain lodge was a fabulous base for aurora hunting. It was very clean, the staff really helpful, polite, friendly and knowledgeable. And the food was fantastic... top marks to an amazing chef! I would use weekend a la carte again without any hesitation.

We had an amazing time from the moment we met our guide at Kiruna Airport till our return. All activities were exceptionally well run and the guides were outstanding both in their enthusiasm and knowledge both of the activity, but also of Abisko, Kiruna and the surrounding area. They all had a huge passion for the environment in which they have chosen to live, despite the challenging conditions and most have travelled widely, but still return to this amazing area. Abisko Mountain Lodge was excellent, we had great accommodation & the food was beyond our expectations, with food standards

Once in a lifetime experience. Brilliantly organised, fabulous accommodation and excellent range of activities. Communication from Weekend a la Carte was first class from the first enquiry. All the local guides were enthusiastic and engaging. The northern lights treated us to a breathtaking display - even our teenagers were blown away! It really has been the trip of a lifetime.

We had a fabulous time - really loved our time at Mattarahka Lodge & all the activities of snow mobiles , dog sledding , reindeer & hot-tub , with northern lights laid on! Abisko Lodge was more basic , but besides single beds, food was great. Christmas Day walk by freezing lake was special.

Had excellent service from the company from the start. Nothing was too much trouble. Sorted out my booking for 6 people with ease. All emails were very informative and helpful. We were able to get all the appropriate equipment for our holiday without worrying if we had the correct stuff. Will definitely use again.

A fabulous holiday with the right balance of activities and relaxation. Some elements needed to be amended ( earlier flight and room booking) which were handled well and fairly. The earlier flight was preferred as it would have been a very long travel day without the overnight stop in Stockholm. There's quite a big difference in the standard vs superior rooms but both have pros and cons associated with them. For example, the latter are outside the main hotel bar area so you have to get boots and coat on when visiting the bar or restaurant. It's a small thing, but something to consider. Guests and staff were friendly which enabled us to ask questions about up coming activities and then compare notes around the log fire. I would rebook and have already recommended it to several friends.

The Weekend a la carte Aurora Nights trip was a bucket list trip for Jo and I. Everything was really well organised, the travel plan was detailed and accurate, and the accommodation was comfortable, friendly and really enjoyable. We had an amazing trip, and thoroughly enjoyed the excursions we had pre-arranged with Weekend a la carte and again everything went just as planned to make it easy to relax and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime trip.

From start to finish booking this holiday with al la carte weekends was amazing. We had issues with delayed flights, engine issues but Kevin was on hand out of hours and changed flights for us and booked us last minute accommodation , we were in safe hands. Once arriving in Kiruna everything went smoothly. We did not have to worry about anything as Petri who picked us up from the airport was there to let us know our pick up times for all the activities and look after us. Every place we stayed was superb. We were truly looked after and everyone was so friendly. I could go on and on about how amazing this holiday was but I want to mention the husky dog team we met. Ylva and Linda were just amazing and the way they run the kennels is so amazing. They made this experience exceptional for us. The snow mobiling was amazing and the man who took us took us to the top of the mountain for amazing views. Then there was Johan and the wilderness cabins, wow, the place was breathtaking but his food and company was an experience I will never forget. We want to pass our huge thanks to every who made this trip as special as it was. Thank you. I would not hesitate booking with them again and have already recommended it to friends.

I had the most amazing time at the Abisko Mountain Lodge. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble, the food is out of this world which is saying something as I’m quite a fussy eater. Martina with the snowmobiles was so patient with my nerves and really informative, it made the morning that I was dreading truly enjoyable. Miguel and the other photographer (I’m useless with names) were so helpful and knowledgeable about the Aurora, I have photos I never dreamed I could take. Last but not least William, who was in charge of the huskies and seemed to spend the rest of his time running us around. He was incredibly thoughtful and looked after our comfort and wishes even though it was a big inconvenience to him.

Abigail is a marvellous point of contact. Always keeping us up to date during a difficult period for travel, helping us through rescheduling for the following year after I contracted Covid. Ensuring my parents had assistance at the airport and that activity levels of trips we had booked were suitable. Even amending the plans for our trip to make sure we got best value for money. When airlines cancelled flights Abigail was there to notify us and offer solutions. The holiday as a whole was a great success, we were lucky to see the Northern lights nearly every evening and the trips through South Iceland Tours were amazing. We had the guides Margaret and Stefan, again both of whom were great ambassadors for their company, real personalities that made the trips all the more memorable for us. Hotel Ranga had awesome staff who were above merely professional and really personalised our experience even lending us waterproofs when a case failed to arrive. An extra night here not doing a trip would have allowed us time to use the hotel’s extensive facilities. Hotel Centrum a little noisy on rooms at the front of the building but the location was perfect for exploring Reykjavík.

Absolutely wonderful trip! We had to postpone twice due to covid but finally got to travel to Iceland in November. The hotel was in a perfect location with friendly and helpful staff. Overall we had a great trip. Highlights include: + Hotel Ranga - excellent hotel with a very high-quality restaurant and superb staff. The weather and conditions were against us so we didn't see the northern lights but it was still good to sit in a hot tub and marvel at the night sky. + SouthCoastTours - Northern Lights tour. Really poor weather meant this was a long shot, but we ended up on a black beach, made a camp fire and a unique cocktail by Margaret our guide. + SouthCoastTours - very professional and friendly guides. Our tour of Thorsmork and Waterfalls was very good. Do ask to make sure you see Seljalandsfoss since this is on the way out. We just caught this before losing light but you can also stop by the next day since it's right by the route to Vik. + SouthCoastTours - Ice Caves. Superb guides. The trip itself - I'm sure this is variable depending on the conditions since it's constantly changing. This was the highlight for me - see my favorite picture attached. Amazing ! Note that there's a good Lava Centre that was recommended to us but I think this should be booked ahead of time - but they only run at 13:30 and 17:00 so that didn't work for our schedule. If I could change anything I might have returned to Hotel Ranga after the trip to the ice Caves and enjoyed some quality time there after a few hectic days. Then on the following day, drive the golden circle ending up in Reykjavik. Minor tweak and I'm sure the cost would have gone up - but may have been a practical option. We ended up spending very little time in Reykjavik itself given the touring - next time an extra day to explore and do some of the activities there would be good. Finally, a 09:00 booking at Blue Lagoon worked out perfectly - any later and it gets busy and your schedule squeezed subject to flights. We had time in the lagoon and then into the superb restaurant by 11:45 - highly recommended.

Dear Iolo Thank you for your very detailed review and suggestions. Always useful to get people's "take" on the break so thank you for your thoughts, and taking the time to give us such specific feedback. Delighted you had a great time and clearly enjoyed the activities and i love your photo of the Ice Cave! I have forwarded your feedback to the relevant partners in Iceland. For your information I don't recommend the Lava Show, which although wonderful, does not work with the itinerary timing wise, and only goes ahead if enough people have booked. It was the Lava Centre i recommended which is an exhibition open all day till 4pm. Thank you again for your feedback Regards Abigail
