“Early in October 2024 we were on holiday, feeling very relaxed. I had passed my mid 60s and my wife was 10 years younger. We had sex one morning, and again the following morning. On the third day I was unable to get an erection and this continued for the rest of the week. On returning home I went to see my GP as this situation was totally unusual to me. He told me that as we had been able to have sex twice the previous week I was not technically follow suffering from erectile dysfunction, as it does not come on overnight. He told me not to worry about it and that he believed the problem would disappear.
A month later things were not improved. I had been unable to get an erection and started doing research into suitable pills. I did not like the idea of having to wait an hour or two after taking a pill before being able to have sex, so I was quite attracted by the idea of being able to take a low dose every day allowing sex to happen immediately as required as long as suitable arousal was available. I visited a GP again, told him the problem still existed and discussed my plans for Tadalafil daily. He gave me his full support. I ordered a month's supply, took the first pill at 10 o'clock in the morning, and at four o'clock, while having a bath, I had the most solid erection that I had had for a very long time, and realized that my erection problem had existed for some time although it had not interfered with actually having sex. I was just not getting as hard as earlier in my life.
Over the next week we successfully had sex on two occasions but on two other occasions I lost my erection during sex. After a couple of weeks I contacted the Independent Pharmacy and it was suggested that I doubled the dose. This resolved the problem of failing erections, but I soon noticed a different problem, which I now believe was not necessarily connected to the Tadalafil. I found that I was unable to have an orgasm. I stayed erect and could continue until I was physically exhausted, which was frustrating for me but quite pleasant for my wife. Again I contacted the pharmacy and did my own research, and found that this was a known problem. I had had this symptom about a year earlier when I put it down to the side effects of some other medication that I was on. It is also a known symptom of anxiety, which is something I suffer from. On a positive side, with not having an orgasm, I was able to have sex two and on one occasion, three times in a day but it did leave me a little bit frustrated but my wife was very pleased with my endurance. I started to accept the inability to have an orgasm, and actually felt satisfied half an hour afterwards.
I then decided to try reducing from 10 milligrams every day to alternate to five milligrams and ten milligrams on successive days. I had no problem at any point in getting and maintaining an erection, and on some occasions I was able to have an orgasm. One unpleasant side effect was indigestion in my upper chest which was resolved by taking supermarket own-brand Gaviscon type medication two or three times a day for a week. After two months I decided to try going back to just five milligrams per day. I think due to my full belief in the pills, I was suffering from anxiety about my performance a lot less, and 5 mg seemed to be enough to give me a reliable erection, although I was still having problems with no orgasm on some occasions. Quite often sex a second time later in the day would give me an orgasm. Throughout this entire period my sex drive was low, but only the slightest amount of either mental (any sort of erotic thought) or physical arousal from my wife had a big effect on me. In summary I would encourage people to persevere with the medication, temporarily tolerating any side effects which I found subsided after a while. It is now nearly three months since I started the course, and I am amazed that such a tiny pill can have such a dramatic effect. My 4-star rating is purely because very little in life deserves 5 stars.”
