“I did think it calmed my cold sores down a lot and stopped the pain but didn’t get given enough tablets and the coldsores were still there a week later”
Hi Lindsey,
Thank you for contacting us regarding your order for Aciclovir 400mg tablets; I am sorry to hear that this treatment has not been as effective as expected.
As a UK pharmacy, we are regulated by both the General Pharmaceutical Council and the Care Quality Commission and we use the same medication suppliers as the main high-street pharmaceutical chains.
I have escalated your feedback to our clinical lead for further guidance and the following advice has been provided for you:
The best time to start this treatment is when you first notice the signs that a cold sore is starting such as a tingle or an itch. If you start taking the Aciclovir 400mg tablets after the ulcer has formed, the medication will not be as effective but it can still reduce the overall time that you have symptoms.
If you were intending to use this treatment as a suppression therapy, we do have a different treatment option taken daily to prevent the ulcers from happening in the first place.
This does need to be taken long-term, especially if you are prone to outbreaks.
You are welcome to contact our clinical team for further guidance on your condition and we have reached out to you directly. We hope that we can help you to find a suitable solution to the symptoms you are experiencing.
