“This is a great windproof jacket that will probably last a lifetime given the poly cotton fabric is almost indestructible and all the fittings (zips and press studs) are top quality. Additionally the construction and especially the stitching is of a much better standard than you would ever find in a far eastern copy, being similar to that of high end hiking gear. Although it is described as a parka it does not have any insulation but if you are looking for a warm windproof jacket simply pair it up with either the Dutch army fleece or alternatively the German army parka liner. Both of these offer a really significant amount of warmth if worn as a mid-layer under this jacket. On its own it will still provide some additional warmth by negating the effects of “wind chill”.Although you can never make this type of garment totally waterproof (as the seams are not taped) if treated with a product such as Nikwax TX Direct (wash in) it can be made highly water resistant i.e. will easily cope with damp, mist and fog, as well as rain and snow showers. Basically a really well made and practical jacket, if you want to pair with an insulated mid layer going up a size may be advisable. As always the customer service was simply exemplary.”
