This was my first go at home brewing since my extremely unsuccessful attempts at making wine fifty years ago. My wife bought the Sheepdog’s Pride kit with all the buckets etc as a present. The instructions that come with the kit are very clear and easy to follow. You just have to be careful cleaning and sterilising the equipment. I did it in April when the weather had warmed up and it was easy to keep the temperature at about 20-25 degrees with a towel around the bucket at night. After bottling I started drinking in about a month although I had a sip of what wasn’t enough to fill the last bottle right away and it was fine. I have to say the beer is delicious. I won’t go into all the stuff about heady notes of this and that as my palette is not that good. All I would say is that it is very hoppy. The instructions do say if that if you want a less tangy beer don’t put all the hops in. I just ignored that and chucked the whole packet in. I would highly recommend this bitter and would be happy to drink this in a pub. In fact, I’m quite put out that beer not half as good as this costs far more.

This was the beer included in my kit when I first started brewing again after years away from it and I have brewed it many times and never been disappointed. I like to try new kits but when I can't decide which kit to order I just add another of the Sheepdog to the basket knowing it won't let me down. Just buy it!

My first ever brew last year, and one I've returned to again as it was just so very good. Exactly the right levels of bitterness to make it very quaffable for most tastes, and not overpoweringly hoppy. Easy to make as long as you don't rush it in primary fermentation, clears beautifully.

a great brew as with the Uncle Teddys this also gets better with every week you leave it bottled. If you can wait 7 weeks or more its well worth it.

My best one yet. Full flavour and just the right amount of hoppiness.

Bottled first batch in mid Aug 20. Good at 6 weeks, with flavours beautifully integrated at 8 weeks and a lovely feel in the mouth. A fantastic pint!
